Interestingly, exact doppelgängers of alternate Earths don't always engender the same romatnic reaction in the men they meet. This was true of the morror image counterparts, Carol Ferris of Earth-One and Ramia of Myrg from Earth-Two's universe. Yet when they met counterparts Hal Jordan and Alan Scott, one sparked deep love and the other only friendship.
For Hal Jordan, this first true love was his employer turned girlfriend Carol Ferris, while he was a test pilot working for the company that Carol's father owned. Although the pair had a romantic relationship, it was strained by their working relationship. Then wen Hal adopted his alias as he Green Lantern, he created a romantic rival for himself that he could never fairly compete with despite his best efforts.
For Alan Scott, when he first met Princess Ramia she was fleeing from planet Myrg, as the ruling counsel decreed that she marry Prince Peril whom she despised. Not finding a suitable suitor on her world, she traveled to Earth-Two. There, she attracted the attention, if not the affection, of Alan's alter ego Green Lantern... who battled the pursuing Prince Peril. Soon after, alongside cab driver Doiby Dickles, she ended up meeting Hal when traveling to Earth-One to evade Peril.
Sharing in several adventures with the Emerald Crusaders, ultimately the pressure of such a life splitting their affections between a common civilian and a costumed crusader each was too much. While Irene never seemed to learn of Alan's dual identity, eventually Carol would discover Hal's and forced him to make a decision... stay a superhero or be her beau.
Hal decided on the latter and gave up his life as a superhero for a time, although Carol soon after forsook her normal life and their relationship in order to resume her identity of Star Sapphire when she regained her memories of her other life as queen of the alien Zamorians.
While both Alan and Hal were fine specimens, it was Scott's pal Doiby whom Ramia fell in love with. And so, he became her husband and consort back on her homeworld. As for Alan, he eventually wed his former secretary (and old adversary Harlequin) Molly Mayne after having been apart from her for decades.
