Stunning Sounds Synthesize Superheroes

Among the scores of adolscent superheroes, from those relying only on their carefully trained physical skills to those embued with powers caused from genetics to accidental mutations, a few derived their abilities from sonic vibrations. Two pairs of Dynamic Duos on parallel planets when gained amazing attributes from soundwaves were Hawk and Dove of Earth-One, and Toughy and Tubby of Earth-Two. 

Hank and Don Hall were brothers with conflicting world views. Hank sought to fight back when he saw oppression, which led to his violent demeanor. Don sought to find common ground with his opponents, which led to his peaceful attitude. There father, Judge Irwin Hall, displayed balanced between these two opposing philosophies, displaying justice when necessary and mercy when possible. 

Herbert "Toughy" Simms and Richard "Tubby" Mehlville weren't blood relatives, but best friends. These young lads were emotionally balanced, and much as teenagers can be, although physically they were drastically different. Herbert was physically fit and strong, whereas Richard was overweight and durable. They were mentored by their friend Tommy's father, District Attorney Dan Rogers, who taught the three lads the true meaning of justice.

When a local mobster in the city of Elmond threatened Judge Hall’s life, Hank and Don tracked down his gang to a building where they met, yet found themselves trapped in a room within the criminals’ hideout. The Hall boys then heard an incorporeal voice offer them power only when justice needs to be served. By calling out their heroic alter ego names, Hawk for Hank and Dove for Don, the teens transform into costumed crusaders, with Hawk’s athletic abilities amplified to near superhuman strength, while Don’s gymnastic aptitude gives him remarkable agility. Together, they would be joined in their adventures by the horn playing hero Mal “Guardian” Duncan and the red-haired Lilith, and would join the Teen Titans. It’s unknown if perhaps the same incorporeal voice is connected to Mal’s special horn, which could teleport Duncan and others to various locations where needed. These four joined the first members of the Teen Titans: Robin, Speedy, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, and the Titans’ later members.

When a gang boss began terrorizing Big City, District Attorney Rogers was powerless to stop them. This motivated Tommy into adopting a heroic horn playing alter ego of Little Boy Blue, and inspired Toughy and Tubby into joined him as costumed crusaders. Together, they were able to bring the gang and its leader to justice, and had several adventures throughout the years as the Blue Boys, with the harmonious melody of Tommy’s horn seemingly calling his friends to action no matter where they are in relation to him. It’s unknown if Little Boy Blue’s special horn could imbue the three lads with abilities far beyond those of males their age, as the Blue Boys displayed above average strength and agility. Eventually, they were made members of the All-Star Squadron, where they were teammates with fellow Robin, Speedy, Johnny Quick, Neptune Perkins, Wonder Woman and others.

Mentally Merging Men-Child

Joseph Wilson was a mutant born to the mercenary Slade Wilson. Known in costume as Deathstroke, Wilson had been genetically altered so as to have increased access to his full mental capacity which granted him tremendous abilities. He passed the adaptive trait to his second son Joseph who, as Jericho, could phase his body into any their person with whom he made eye contact with so as the control them. 

Dick Amber was born to a violent heritage line of warriors, which caused him to contend with a troubling legacy. Dick was granted by the Conscience of Man the ability to merge with various ancestors of his, allowing him to see things through their perspective, which would teach him how to learn from their mistakes.

Joining the New Teen Titans of Earth-One, Jericho was a reliable member and bonded with teammate Raven as well as dating fellow mutant Kole. Replacing the first new member of that team turned traitor, Terra, Jericho was able to rebuild confidence in his new teammates Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Raven, Starfire and Cyborg.

Learning from his experiences alongside the Justice Society of America, Amber made his own decisions later on pursuing a career. During these various past eras, Dick was tutored by Society members Hawkman, Mister Terrific, Doctor Mid-Nite, Atom, Wildcat, and Johnny Thunder (while fellow members Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman waited for them to return to the 20th century in their headquarters). Together, they with the Conscience of Man embued Dick Amber with a renewed sense of purpose and a determination to do what was right.

Disguised Dudes Determined to Deal Decisively against Drugs

Jason Hart and Rick Tyler were both young men with very good intentions. When they saw crime infest their communities and innocents needing to be defended, they adopted their alter egos as Protector and Hourman, respectively. Even their choice in costume colors were similar. But there was a stark divide between the two costumed crusaders.

Jason was a youth who saw the effects the drug addiction had on his younger cousin Tim, and recalling that Tim's idolized superheroes like Nightwing/Robin, Hart adopted the alter ego of the Protector. Using his natural athletic ability, Jason was able to deal punishment toward the dealers stalking on the community. This led to Protector becoming trained by his role model and becoming an honorary member of Nightwing's Teen Titans of Earth-One.

Rick saw the affliction of his friend and love interest Beth Chapel during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and the chaos resulting from the unfolding disaster. Adopting a alter ego and ingesting the addictive Miraclo pills that his father Rex created for his costumed crusade as the Hourman, Rick likewise assuming the identity. Gaining the strength and speed of five men, as the second Hourman, Rick and Beth... aka Doctor Midnight... became members of Infinity, Inc. of Earth-Two. However, the effects of his drug addiction took a toll on Rick when he would take more than one to increase his power, leading to his decision making becoming dangerous. Thankfully, Chapel was able to wean him off Miraclo and Tyler became a part time hero under a more moderate dosage of the pill.

Wonder Women: The Worlds' Greatest (more or less) Heroines

While definitely superheroes outnumbered superheroines throughout the Multiverse, several notable women carved out names from themselves on Earths One and two, showing that they matched the mettle of their male peers. Preeminent among these was the Wonder Women and the Black Canarys, who stood on their own before joining their Worlds Greatest Heroes... the Justice League and Justice Society. And lest we forget, the Last Daughters of Krypton, Kara Zor-El and Zor-L aka Supergirl and Power Girl, proved equal to their more famous cousins... the Supermen.

And then there were the others, the lesser lights, who reflected the heroic standards set by the above fabulous females while carving out their own costumed careers. Many of these joined the New Teen Titans of Earth-One or the female version of the Justice Society of Earth-Two, while others stood apart trying to forge their own path within the metahuman community. This is by no means a comprehensive list of all those legendary ladies, as some would exist in other times, on other worlds, and under other circumstances. For the purpose of this piece, however, we are focusing on nine of these glorious gals whom we had previously considered although this time we do so more extensively.

- The Donna Troy of both worlds, on Earth-One she would become Wonder Girl the adopted Amazonian and on Earth-Two she became a Holliday Girl who once wore her college's guardian, Wonder Woman's costume.

- Jean Loring and Mary James who each had significant relationships with their world's respective Atoms, even though there were ups and downs, with Loring becoming the evil "Queen Jean" on occasion and James becoming a female Atom.

- Both Myra Masons, whether as the temporarily superpowered girlfriend of Space Ranger or the one-time female version of boyfriend Doctor Mid-Nite, were faithful companions to the men in their lives.

- Hawkwoman and Hawkgirl aka Shiera Hall, the loving wives of the Hawkmen who shared their high-flying adventures, with the former joining the Justice League with her husband and the latter the All-Star Squadron with her boyfriend.

- Raven and Clarice Winston, wearing hooded and caped costumes while being protected by shadowy
guardians during their encounters with evil over the years.

- Koriand'r aka Kori "Starfire" Anders and Doris "Starwoman" Lee, each wielding energy powered by the stars alongside their fellow heroines, and more importantly dazzling their boyfriends Robin and Starman, respectively.

- Tara Marcov was the illegitimate daughter of the King of Marcovia, who was given powers over the earth which led to her adopting the alter ego of Terra. Her counterpart was the second girlfriend of Wesley Dodds aka Sandman, adopting a female version of his costume. Both women had short careers.

- Amy Winston who was the Princess Amethyst and Peachy Pet Thunder who was also a girl with grand aspirations. Eventually, both would gained power and moved to new dimensional worlds for true love.

- Mysa Nal and Inza Cramer Nelson* were redheads with access to ancient energies from alien worlds allowing themselves to become among the most powerful of their peers.

Another heroine who was an unofficial member of the Teen Titans was Kole Weathers. A mutant whose scientist parents imbued in her the ability to weave silicon crystals in various shapes, she aided the Titans and fell in love with one of their members in Joseph “Jericho” Wilson. She perished attempting to protect fellow heroes during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Her counterpart was Gerta VonGunther, the daugher of former criminal scientist Paula Von Gunthner, who had been the arch-foe of Earth-Two's Wonder Woman. Once Gerta had been liberated from Nazi captivity and returned to her mother, Paula renounced her evil ways, and both mother and daughter moved to Paradise Island. There, Gerta began experimenting with germs turned into insects and creating mermaids out of sharks, although such experiments were dangerous. Gerta finally renounced her troublesome research for the safety of humanity.

The New Teen Titans would typify a balanced approach where both genders were concerned, as over time their membership would have notable females in the midst proving invaluable to their masculine comrades. So too would the Legion of Super-Heroes in Earth-One's future and the All-Star Squadron of Earth-Two's past, although the aforementioned Justice League and Justice Society sadly only had a handful of heroines throughout their history, although each would recruit non-member heroines from time to time to aid them in their efforts throughout the years.

* Inza also inherited a green skinned persona from her ancestor Ezra Hawkins aka Sir Traytor. This version of her spawned a woman named Jealous that battled her husband Kent “Doctor Fate” Nelson during a battle with a Lord of Chaos. This lethal osu was the counterpart of Supergirl’s evil clone Satan Girl.

Magnificent Mighty Metallic Men Meet Mystery Men

Today's two spotlight superheroes wore silver suits of armor into battle. Meet Victor Stone aka Cyborg from Earth-One, and Tong aka the Iron Man of Earth-Two.

Stone was being breed by his scientific parents into being an intellectual genius, however it was athletics that truly inspired him. Then one day, while visiting his folks' lab, he witnessed an inter-dimensional being pulled through the Stone's equipment which caused his mother to perish and caused Victor to lose over half of his body. Frantically, his father Silas installed cybernetic parts in the lad turning him into Cyborg. He would soon thereafter be recruited into joining the Teen Titans, although he would be a reluctant hero always seeking to return to normal. His robotic components were composed of molybdenum steel, plastics and polymers which gave him superhuman strength and semi-invulnerability, with adaptable parts to his artificial exoskeleton. He came equipped with sonic disruptors, electronic shockers, and body extensions. 

As for Tong, he was the assistant of John Zatara, a traveling adventurer with magnificent yet mysterious powers which he would employ on various cases. In several instances, Zatara used his powers of transmutation into turning his partner Tong into various forms. At least once, Tong was transformed into a winged Iron Man. While never officially joining the All-Star Squadron which Zatara had been a member of... doubtless Tong was still an associate in good standing. And it would stand to reason aided the Squadron at least a time or two during World War II. Tong would even resemble another armored hero of the day in Bozo the Robot. After a series of tales alongside Zatara, Tong eventually retired perhaps to return to his unspecified foreign homeland.

Wonder Woman's Sidekicks... and her Loyal Lady Legacy

Synonymous with Wonder Woman is the Holliday Girls, a sorority that operated out of Holliday College became the Amazing Amazons' unofficial sidekicks. Both were headed by their unofficial leaders, Etta Candy, on each world. In the modern era of Earth-One, these primarily consisted only of a select few  gals that joined Etta on their hero's adventures for a short period of time. These three were Tina Toy, Thelma Tall and Lita Little. This quartet would aid the alter ego of Princess Diana in a half dozen cases, then return to lives of normalcy except for Etta who would graduate and join Diana Prince in her clerical job at the Pentagon. On one occasion, Candy would duplicate the process that turned the evil Doctor Psycho into the super powered Captain Wonder by transforming herself into a red-haired Wonder Woman for a brief time in order to defeat the Doctor/Captain and other costumed crooks who had assembled on that occasion.

As for the Holliday Girls of Earth-Two, they had a much larger membership and several more adventures with their Wonder Woman over the years. Etta's primary pals in the group were Eve Brown, Roberta "Bobbie" Strong and Glamora Treat. On one such occasion, these three along with a few others were investigating the sinister Anton Unreal, who had devised an instrument that could project individuals into the fourth dimension. And it was in this reality that two significant things happened. First, that five of the Holliday Girls were transformed into replicas of Wonder Woman and, second, that they began to learn how to phase between dimensions. 

Among these was the Earth-Two Donna Troy who like her counterpart became a Wonder Girl but didn't join a team like the Teen Titans. She had been saved by a firefighter, unlike her Earth-One counterpart who had been saved by Wonder Woman herself and raised among the heroine's people. Nevertheless, each young woman gained powers mirroring her heroine's.

This Donna did have several more adventures with her fellow Holliday Girls. Her "unreal" abilities would be used on future cases, including when summoned to the planet Venus and later still to determine the true culprit behind a rash of crimes.

Heirs to the Greatest Golden Gliders

Charlie Parker and Edmund Blake were lads who aspired to soar the heavens as heroes. Their dreams led them to become part of the legend that was the Hawkmen of their worlds.

For Parker, an orphan who idolized Earth-One's Hawkman who was at that time off-world, accidentally gained the ability to transform into the Golden Eagle when his hero's arch-foe Matter Master had subconsciously desired to face his enemy again. Using his powers, Matter Master made Charlie a proxy for his adversary, and as the Eagle the youth aided the Justice League in defeating the villain. Soon after, Charlie was made an honorary member of the League, even though he lose his transform of costume and wings once its creator was incarcerated.

For Blake, it was due to his having a life threatening illness which became well publicized, and linked his admiration for the Justice Society... of which Hawkman was its chairman... to a source of psychological treatment. After utilizing a device to see all the tales that Edmund shared with individual members of the Society in the years to come, Edmund was inspired to come to that team's rescue when their lives were threatened. For this, he was bequeathed with honorary membership.

It was later revealed that Hawkman had given Charlie an extra pair of Thanagarian wings with an anti-gravity belt. The Golden Eagle briefly resumed his costumed career in California, joining the short-lived Teen Titans West before they and the main Teen Titans on the East Coast of the United States joined forces against Mister Esper.

As for Edmund, he was called upon decades after his honorary induction to the Justice Society to be a character witness in a Congressional trial, investigating spurious charges launched against the team by its late founder Batman’s diary. He has married the love of his life and settled down, although kept his ties to his teammates alive throughout the years.

Stellar Stargals' Sensational Seconds in the Sun

On twin Earths separated by scant differences in their universes' vibrational frequency, two Stargals gained their moment in the spotlight and each experienced life from her counterpart's point-of-view, in a manner of speaking. The refuge from from the Vegan System planet of Tamaran sought refuge on Earth-One after escaping the despotic aliens hordes of the Psions and the Citadel. Meeting several teenages from this human world who, like her, were bequeathed with exceptional abilities, she found a new adopted home on their planets. Changing her name from Koriand'r to Kori Anders, her main occupation was continuing her career as the crusader known as Starfire. And yet, she sought out a more glamourous life, something that accentuated her feminity, which she found as a supermodel... a life she was encouraged to pursue by her Teen Titan teammate and roommate Donna "Wonder Girl" Troy. In the midst of this, she also found true love, albeit some frustration, in the arms of another teammate Richard "Robin" Grayson. There love would falter when family pulled her away.

Doris Lee was a native of Earth-Two, and thus never needed to flee her own universe's version of the Psion and Citadel. Since she wasn't groomed with fighting skills nor granted stellar powers like Koriand'r, Doris could focus her attention on being what she naturally was... a beautiful debutante. While she, like the Princess Koriand'r, was born into wealth and prominence, she needn't flaunt it as a model even though she could've been one easily. Still, when she first saw the Dynamic Duo of Batman and Richard "Robin" Grayson, she knew she wanted a hero of her own. Sadly, all she had was the equally wealthy Ted Knight, although secretly he would also become the costumed crusader known as Starman. On one occasion, when meeting fellow girlfriends of Ted's Justice Society of America, the gals decided to wear variations of their beau's outfits to save them from the vile Brain Wave. In fact, on this occasion she learned how to weild a copy of Knight's Gravity Rod, giving her stellar powers on par with that of Starfire. For a brief moment, she experience a life that her counterpart had lived while young, as an adventurer. Then she returned to being the love interest of Starman's alter ego, forevermore shelving her Stargirl alter ego. Regrettably, that love never developed further as she would pass away a few years later.

Two fabulous females who literally harnessed the power of the stars, and left stars in the eyes of their men... and on those whose lives they touched including their sisterhoods of superheroines.

Robin's Radical Relationships: Turbulent Teenagers

Some things were easier for Earth-One's Robin than for that of his counterpart, some things were not. One thing that went smoothly was the former's fine friendship with other teenage sidekicks, with whom he formed the Teen Titans. For the latter, there was no such Titans, instead there was the Blue Boys of whom Robin was not a member. However, the Boy Wonder did meet other lads who... like him... accompanied their mentors at a meeting of the All-Star Squadron. While the Titans began with four lads... Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad and Speedy... and a lass named Wonder Girl, the young All-Star quartet of Robin, Dyna-Mite, Sandy and Speedy didn't mesh quite as well (and on Earth-Two, Donna Troy never assumed the alter ego of Wonder Girl as had her twin). One parallel quite evident, however, was the fact that each Robin and Speedy immediately butted heads with one another. Still, Earth-One's pair would develop a begrudging friendship while the Earth-Two pair would find a more significant gap between them. For there, that Speedy was lost in time for decades with his Law's Legionnaires comrades, and returned in the 1970s as still a teenage, encountering a now forty-year old Robin alongside the Justice Society... a team where Robin would finally find the acceptance had that his twin found amongst the Titans!

Robin's Radical Relationships: To Love or Not to Love

The red-haired dopplegangers known as Kori "Koriand'r" Anders and Doris Lee had their lives irrevocably altered when they each encounted a Boy Wonder. For Kori, as an escaped fugitive from space, it was when she sought refuge on Earth-One.. then membership.... into the New Teen Titans. Therein she met their leader, Robin, who felt the sparks between them immediately. As his teammate Starfire, Robin found a true companion of Kori, which had something to due with both being the same age when they met. For Doris Lee, however, Robin's impact was felt in a different way. When armed thugs threatened her life and that of her boyfriend Ted Knight, it was the Batman and Robin who saved the day. Seeing the heroic attitudes definitely enthralled Ms. Lee, however she was obviously more attracted to the Batman who was her age rather than the young teenage Robin. That same sense of heroism would inspired Doris' beau to adopt the alter ego Starman, and it would be this Starman who would work alongside Earth-Two's Dynamic Duo as members of the Justice Society. However, her heart would be devoted to Ted, leaving that world's Robin to seek love elsewhere.



Titans' Tenures on Terrific Teams: Boys Wonder

The former Boys Wonder carved a niche, and a legend, for themselves as the right-hand lads of the Batmen. Yet it was once they matured into men themselves that they showed their true potential. While Earth-One's Robin was an early participant in cases involving his mentor's allies on the Justice League, it was Earth-Two's Robin that as a seasoned veteran was awarded membership with the Justice Society of America. Earth-One's Robin joined Batman on cases versus the Key and the Lord of Time, as well as working alongside his counterpart on a joint case versus Solomon Grundy. Earth-Two's Robin first officially worked with the Society when he was recruited to help them versus the Black Sphere Gang... and later aiding them versus the Iron Hand, the Injustice Society, King Kull of Earth-S and the evil duo Brain Wave and Per Degaton.

Interestingly, each Robin joined other costumed crusders to battle the League and Society, when those teams were effected by the machinations of Antithesis and Psycho-Pirate. In the end, both Ex-Boys Wonder stepped out of the shadows... and into the light of legend amongst a cadre of their peers!

Cookie-Cutter Counterparts: Green Arrow and Speedy

From the outset, the Oliver Queens of Earths One and Two are near mirror images of one another. Each is a wealthy playboy who later becomes their world's most accomplished archer. And both have sidekicks known as Speedy.

That said, the golden age Arrow of Earth-Two had an interest in American Indian artifacts, which brought him to Lost Mesa where he met future ward Roy Harper and where both learned to love archery. The silver age Arrow of Earth-One found his footing as an archer while on a deserted island, later meeting Roy Harper.

Additionally, while the early Roy's first guardian was a native American named Quoag, the later Roy's was named Brave Bow. Neither were in the boys' lives for very long.

Another point of divergence was that at the point when Green Arrow and later Speedy were invited to join the Justice League and Teen Titans, respectively; their counterparts were already members of Law's Legionnaires when the Justice Society had been operating separately. Hence, the Earth-One battling bowmen were more part of the mainstream of superhero community, while the Earth-Two duo were not as highly acclaimed...although they joined the All-Star Squadron along with all mystery men of their day.

Then tragedy struck each yet in different ways. For the original pair, they along with their fellow Legionnaires were pulled through time after battling a cosmic entity to different centuries, with Arrow in the time of Robin Hood and Speedy in the days of ancient Greece. They were men out of time disconnected from the 1940's.

Meanwhile, the modern day Arrow found his fortune in essence stolen by a bitter rival, and found his beloved partner Speedy a heroin addict. Both men eventually recovered and picked up the pieces of their lives, although now together, deciding it best to live apart.

What is truly interesting is how, several months after Earth-One's Green Arrow and his girlfriend Black Canary faced Speedy's devastating decision to self-destruct, they encountered Earth-Two's Green Arrow and Speedy. No words seem to have been exchanged from the sole picture of blonde Oliver meeting his brunette haired twin and junior pal, perhaps this only reminded him of his own personal regrets at drifting away from his partner. Although it's telling how both Arrow is facing the young Speedy, with his back turned to the original Avenging Archer. And perhaps, seeing a lonely Arrow caused the Earth-Two pair to cling closer together and make a new life as civilians... retiring from the stress of their other lives. Although, years later after the passing of fellow Legionnaire Crimson Avenger, the tragedy of their time lost overwhelmed this Speedy.

During and after the Crisis on Infinite Earths, it was only Earth-Two's Green Arrow who participated as had his counterpart, with neither Speedy suited up for this conflict. And eventually, the golden age Ace Archer died during an attack by agents of the Anti-Matter Universe, while his young ward now no longer fitting into this new reality apparently ceased to exist. Or did he?

An asides: Oliver Queen on Earth-One eventually became a commentator for Star City's Daily Star, while the Earth-Two Oliver's teammate Crimson Avenger was the publisher of the Daily Globe-Leader (its postulated these two organziations mirror each other similar to Metropolis' Daily Planet and Earth-Two Daily Star).

Black-and-Yellow Battling Bravehearts

This comparison should be obvious. Two heroines of African-American origin, with genius intellect, devise equipment that allow them to join teenage teams while in love with a member of each group. And then their is the fashion sensibilities. We introduce Bumbleee aka Karen Beecher and Doctor Midnight aka Dr. Beth Chapel for your consideration

• A black and gold stylized outfit complete with specialized googles.
•  Weaponry that can disarm opponents in the form of stingers and blackout bombs.
• The aforementioned teams: Teen Titans and Infinity, Inc. welcomed them with open arms.
• The also aforementioned boyfriends Mal "Guardian" Duncan and Rick "Hourman" Tyler.
• Their careers were brief and then they soon retired.
• Given there were differences, one could fly and one could see in the dark, regardless...

Maidens Manipulated by Magnetic Madmen

Frances Kane was a childhood friend of Wally West, and found herself the recipient of magnetic powers that made her an anchor for Neil Emerson aka the supervillain Doctor Polaris, himself exiled in another dimension trying to return to his native Earth-One. This led to a conflict with the New Teen Titans.

Somehow Frances' body gave her the natural gift to store such energies naturally, and she would aid the Titans a time or two in the future. In an alternate timeline, she'd become the heroine Magenta.

Ann Hunt was a movie actress whom a time-displaced Knodar mistook for 23rd century villainess the Black-Eyed Bandit. Enlisting her aid against her will in stealing precious golden keys from Gotham City on Earth-Two, he once more faced his recurring adversary Green Lantern.

Ann played the part given her to perfection, and stole Knodar's magnetic metal controlling device from him in order to shackle the villain and free Green Lantern and his pal Doiby Dickles. After Knodar was taken back to the 24th century for imprisonment, Hunt resumed her acting career.

Fantastic Fearless Foursome of Friends

Fantastic foursomes. While the most famous foursome of teenagers were the original Teen Titans... Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad and Wonder Girl... there was an older and newer version who also struck fear in the hearts of criminals.

It began with a pair of squabbling siblings, Hank and Don Hall. Hank Hall was the older and more aggressive sibling sticking to  a strong conservative view of the world. Donald Hall was the younger sibling, more contemplative as open to a decidedly liberal mindset. While Hank was decisive, Don was indecisive. Both had strengths and weaknesses. A mysterious voice bequeathed them with caped costumes that materialized during periods of stress, transforming Hank into the strong Hawk and Don into the agile Dove. Early on in their heroic careers, they encountered the Titans and bonded with the other two new members of that team, the horn playing lad named Mal and the telepathic beauty known as Lilith.

Thomas Rogers was the son of the local district attorney for his town, and decided to don a costume to fight the rampant gang violence that was engulfing his community. To that end, he recruited his two pals Toughy and Tubby, who dressed in spandex similar to his and became known as Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys. Eventually, they grabbed the attention of aspired heroine Janie, who as Little Miss Redhead used her bola-whip and specialized paint to aid the Boys in a series of cases towards the end of their careers. Apparently, when the all reached adulthood, the quartet retired and perhaps the sparks between Tommy and Janie led to further romance for the pair as it was later revealed that Rogers married and had a son of his own.

Like Hawk and Dove, their counterparts on Earth-Two in Toughy and Tubby were physically gifted, and skilled athletes. Mal had been granted a teleportation device in the shape of a horn, and later the blue and gold uniform of the golden age Guardian of which he adopted his name. This made Mal a mirror for Tommy, while the teams redheads in Lilith and Janie were the perspective members of their respective groups.

Amazing Amazonians Across the Ages

Wonder Woman was the first significant super heroine to appear on the scene, and she wasn't alone among her gender as scores of fabulous females also appeared throughout the Multiverse since December 1941 which Princess Diana arrived in America and reversed her name to Diana Prince. On Earths One and Two, each amazing amazon was nearly identical in powers, in history, in personality. However, there were other Wonder Women in their family, both twins of themselves and blonde bombshells named Hippolyta.

Of course, the mothers of both Diana's was the Amazonian Queens named Hippolyta. While the Hippolyta of Earth-One was blonde and appeared different from her daughter, the Hippolyta of Earth-Two was a brunette with an identical appearance to that of her daughter! In fact, that Hippolyta even impersonated the real Wonder Woman on occasion during special missions, while the other Hippolyta mostly remained on Paradise Island.

When Earth-One Diana was born, she was not alone, for she had a fraternal twin sister born simultaneously who didn't gain much fanfare. Nubia was stolen by her mother Hippolyta's mortal enemy Mars, and raised on a separate floating island with all men as their queen. Years later, she was drawn back to Paradise Island to claim the title of Wonder Woman, and made a strong case in both her combat skills and in her sense of valor and fair play which her sister possessed. Eventually moving to Africa, Nubia became one of that continent's principal protectors as the second Wonder Woman and protected it from her brainwashed famous sister on one occasion. 

When Earth-Two eventually married the love of her life, Steve Trevor, the two brought forth an offspring who would inherit her mother's superhuman abilities. Naming their daughter Hippolyta, or Lyta for short, they raised her both in America and among the Amazonians. However, as she entered her late teens and early twenties, a growing resentment between mother and daughter developed when Diana held back giving her blessing for Lyta carrying on the family tradition as the next Wonder Woman. Instead, Lyta adopted a new alter ego in Fury, becoming a founding member along with her boyfriend and fiancee Hector "Silver Scarab" Hall of Infinity, Inc. where she eventually earned her mother's respect.

And of course, there is Donna Troy. On Earth-One, she was saved by Wonder Woman  from a fiery building early in the amazon's costumed career and as an orphan brought to Paradise Island where she was adopted by Queen Hippolyta and became Diana's second sister. Years later, she returned to man's world as Wonder Girl assisting the Teen Titans who themselves were sidekicks of the Justice League and made names for themselves as a legendary team. Meanwhile on Earth-Two, rather than Diana saving Donna, a firefighter performed the heroic deed and the orphaned girl eventually enrolled in Holliday College. As a Holliday Girl alongside sorority leader Etta Candy, this gal had many adventures with her Wonder Woman... on one occasion in the fourth dimension actually manifesting herself as a twin of her idol.

And centuries prior, the first Wonder Woman of Earth-One was Hippolyta's friend Artemis, who quickly became corrupted in her formerly heroic career before perishing. On Earth-Two, Wonder Woman travelled back in time with help from Paula’s space transporter, which inspired an earlier version of herself for that ancient era.

Boys of the Bogs...Whelps of the Water...Kids the the Kurrents

Garth and Neptune Perkins... two biological freaks of nature that do not fit into their natural societies. 

Due to Garth's purple eyes which were considered a bad omen by his superstitious underwater society, he was left to die in the wild until found by Aquaman a few years later. Learning that the child was the son of King Thar and his mother Berra, both losing their lives to a rival clan conspiring against the monarchy, the boy named Garth would himself be the heir to Atlantean prince Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. Adopting a similar alias as Aqualad, Garth soon met fellow teenage sidekicks and joined the Teen Titans while developing his telepathic control of sea life. Ultimately, he ended up riding his mentor's shirttails rather than operate either solo or with the Titans on more than an occasional basis. Perhaps due to his derivative nature?

Neptune Perkins was a son of two oceanographers, born a human dolphin hybrid mutant, needed to remain in salt water for several hours a day. Gaining the ability to communicate with dolphins, Perkins eventually began associating with the All-Star Squadron infrequently on cases. Years later, he would be a semi-regular assistant of Hawkman on a couple of missions into alien environments.When this occurred, several years had passed since his initial meeting with fellow superheroes, and he had gained the reputation as a noted expert on various forms of life in the oceans of the world.

Each teenager gained the affection of water breathing females, Aquagirl and Tsunami. And each had limited fame while languishing in the shadow of the more famous kings of the sea.

Super Speedsters: 2nd Fastest Men Alive

Okay, we know whom the Fastest Men Alive are... Barry Allen the Flash and Jay Garrick the Flash from Earths One and Two, respectively. And the second fastest would have to be Wally West and Johnny Chambers, better known as Kid Flash and Johnny Quick.

Each clad in red and yellow... interestingly their color schemes are almost inverted from one another.

These twin lads had scores of tales on their own and alongside fellow costumed crusaders. Alongside each Flash, this pair were able to strut their stuff at superspeed giving their more famous contemporaries a run for their money.

Each young man had a fiery temperament at times and each loved dating blonde gals that emitted energy (Magenta and Liberty Belle).

Both joined heroic teams known as the Teen Titans and All-Star Squadron, and while Kid Flash was the Barry's sidekick Johnny was a sometime partner of Jay in mutual cases. Quick would establish himself as more of an independent superhero, since he was nearly the same age as Garrick, while Kid Flash would become the Flash once he became an adult and Barry perished during the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Both Kid and Quick later aided the respective Flashs on the same case, as each were influenced by that machinations of the dimensionally trapped Gorilla Grodd. However, unlike the Flash's, neither Wally nor Johnny pierced the dimensional barrier to encounter one another... perhaps due to the fact that they may have been unaware with the other's existence. Regardless, had they have ran side-by-side in some undocumented adventure, no doubt their similarities would've been made manifest very quickly.

As far as is known, however, the two never directly met until the Crisis on Infinite Earths brought heroes from both worlds together to battle assembled villains such as Grodd and even greater dangers that threatened the Multiverse!
