Misplaced Mechanized Motorized Marvels in the Multiverse

The six members of the Crime Champions wielded wonderous weapons against their arch-foes of the Justice League and Justice Society. Three of these supervillains originated on Earth-One, and the other three resided on Earth-Two. Among their number, two of these felons possessed mechanized marvels which they employed in various capers throughout the years.

Chronos designed his Flying Sundial, a gigantic hover craft with a protective dome allowing him to traverse various environments. Aboard this vessel, he carried numerous time-themed gadgets along with smokescreens allowing him to travel undetected.

Fiddler designed the Fiddle Car, a custom-made automobile in the shape of a gigantic fiddle on wheels affording him high-speed travel across various terrains. Within this vehicle, he carried numerous music-themed gadgets along with exhaust pipes emitting thick smoke cover.

During the Crime Champions' inaugural case, Chronos brought his Flying Sundial to Earth-Two when he faced members of the Justice League*. Years later, following his Injustice Society's latest defeat, Fiddler retrieved his Fiddle Car left behind on Earth-One when he faced the Teen Titans. While both villains were captured by their opponents and returned to their native Earths, their vehicles were left behind, Chronos and Fiddler rebuilt their Flying Sundial and Fiddler Car, or had already possessed a second set of these vehicles back on their native Earths.

Hence, Earths One and Two each had a Flying Sundial and Fiddle Car, although those motorized marvels left each other’s world evidently collected dust from disuse after their former owners left them behind.

* Interestingly, during this same adventure, the Batman and Wonder Woman of Earth-One were seen on piloting a Batplane and Invisible Plane on Earth-Two when they battled Doctor Alchemy of the Crime Champions. Alchemy transformed these planes into winged horses in an attempt to throw the Justice Leaguers to their death. Although this scheme was unsuccessful, it was not shown what became of these transformed horses. Did they stay in those forms or revert to their motorized versions?

It seems likely that, in fact, these were solidified energy constructs created by Doctor Fate when he brought the Leaguers to Earth-Two, using his atomic restructuring powers (since there is no record of either hero/heroine meeting his/her counterpart on this occasion and borrowing their vehicles for this adventure). These planes allowed Wonder Woman and Batman to reach their destination.

Migrants of Multiple Earths: Misplaced Maidens

The first documented instance of a resident of Earth-Two migrating to Earth-One was Dinah "Black Canary" Lance. It was later revealed that she was, in fact, the daughter of the original Canary who had perished along with her husband when they along with her allies in the Justice Society faced Aquarius. During her final moments alive, Dinah recalled her long-lost daughter, Dinah Laurel, who had been kept in a blissful dreamlike state within the Thunderbolt Dimension as she had been afflicted with an uncontrollable sonic cry. Now implanted with her mother's memories, Dinah "Junior" journeyed to Earth-One, where she became a member of the Justice League. Soon after, she discovered her canary cry superpower, and also became a romantic relationship with fellow Leaguer Oliver "Green Arrow" Queen.

Known as a bit of a ladies man, Oliver had previously had other romances including with a woman named Bonnie King, who was secretly known as Arrowette. However, with Dinah, Ollie truly believed he had finally found true love. Despite the pair's conflicting communication styles, they were nearly inseparable, both on League missions and together defending Star City. However, several months after first arriving on her adopted world, Black Canary believed that she was the catalyst of a merging between both Earths!

In fact, the true culprit was the insidious alien architect known as Creator2. Seeking to destroy Earth-Two in order to spawn a new world for another alien race, he used the cyclonic abilities of the android Society member known as Red Tornado to merge both Earths One and Two together. This resulted in various cosmic twins linking together, such as the Supermen, the Flashs, the Hawkmen and the Green Lanterns.

Meanwhile, on board the orbiting Justice League Satellite headquarters, Black Canary pondered whether her existence needed to be ended in order to restore the cosmic balance, feeling she was responsible for the events in the world below. While the Atom suspected she might indeed be the cause, Arrow and the Lantern refuted this hypothesis. They were proved correct when Creator2' spacecraft, including its occupants, were destroyed by a trio of Society allies and both Earths were saved.

The question remains, if Black Canary's presence could potentially upset the delicate balance between both universes, was there a compensatory migration of someone from Earth-One's universe into Earth-Two's? This was the case a few years later when M'La* left the reality Canary now resided of Earth-One for the reality she originated on Earth-Two.

This occurred when M'La's husband Zalaz used the Starheart from Earth-Two's reality to revive her from a coma. Seeking to contain and safeguard the Starheart's energies, M'La merged with it** and returned to the star it was originally contained within... a star handpicked by the Guardians of the Universe in Earth-Two's universe.

Of interesting note is that on this occasion, the Green Lanterns of both Earths... Hal Jordan and Alan Scott along with Green Arrow were stunned by M'La's beauty. While Hal and Alan stared at her features, Oliver looked away, wishing to preserve in his mind that the most beautiful woman he had ever seen... who was his beloved Dinah! And he wasn’t the first man captivated by Dinah’s beauty, both inside and out, as his fellow Justice Leaguer Batman briefly had a romantic encounter with the Canary.

* M'La's doppelgänger in the Earth-Two universe was a princess named Cinderella from a far distant world, which itself was the counterpart to M'La's own planet in that same period universe. This princess, naming herself after the Cinderella of legend, enlisted the aid of Wonder Woman in 1952 to help save her husband.

** The female energy entity speaking to Alan Scott from within his power ring was M'La herself, in her merged form with the Starheart. As she was transformed into this cosmic being following her revitalization by Zalaz, she had the abilities of the Starheart, which included time travel (Green Lantern himself used this power more than once). Now a new life form, she journeyed back in time, to make sure she guided Alan Scott throughout his heroic career.

Migrants of Multiple Earths: First Case of the Freedom Fighters

Among the most critical Earths within the DC Multiverse is that of Earth-Prime. From this world, their inhabitants are able to effect the actions of individuals on alternate Earths. And those other Earthly beings could also interact with creative people from the Prime universe.

In 1978, one such occurence transpired when five members of the Justice League were plucked from Earth-One and brought to Earth-Prime, due to the appearance of that latter world's first superhero and supervillian. The hero, Ultraa, was sole survivor of his world, and his former robotic nursemaid Maxitron somehow inadvertently pulled the Leaguers into their reality. They and Ultra left for Earth-One after Maxitron's defeat.

In the late fall of 1941 on Earth-Two, a mysterious mustached mutant travelled to Earth-Prime, kidnapping various artists from the Prime world's "comic factory". Once under his control, they could no longer pen tales of villians always losing to heroes, which led to several future Freedom Fighters landing in an "unemployment line". These included the Ray, Black Condor, Neon the Unknown, Quicksilver and Joe Hercules. Once Uncle Sam noticed, he helped free the artists and subdued their captor, which led to the defeat of his evil allies*. Apparently, following this trip to the then-unnamed Earth-Prime, Sam was motivated to move to a third parallel planet, Earth-X... where the Freedom Fighters would officially be founded!

* Among these villains was the green skinned female ruler of "Evil Land", whom Sam defeated while visiting "Kid Land" in a previous tale, the counterpart of Phantom Stranger's arch-foe Tala of Earth-One. She would later resurface as Inza Nelson's green-skinned evil duplicate Jealousy to battle Doctor Fate.

The Other Heroes of Earth-X - from Earths One and Two

By far the most famous superheroes on Earth-X were the Freedom Fighters, who migrated from Earth-Two in order to combat the Axis Powers that dominated that world. Brought there by Uncle Sam, among their most prominent members were the Ray, Black Condor, Phantom Lady, Human Bomb and Doll Man. All former members of the All-Star Squadron, which itself had scores of members to defend their world which included teams such as the Justice Society and Law's Legionnaires, there were several others who joined Sam and for a brief period of time were themselves Freedom Fighters.

Sadly most of these individuals evidently perished on Earth-X... such as Red Bee, the Jester, the Spider, Quicksilver. Others left that planet relatively soon after their arrival there. The Blackhawk Squadron ventured back to Earth-Two in 1943, sometime later during the Convergence event Plastic Man... presumed dead by his teammates... ended up on Earth-Twelve where his son would follow in his footsteps and eventually met the Inferior Five. Then there was the case of Dan Richards, aka Manhunter.

Richards decided he wanted to return to Earth-Two, which is evident as he would have a child there, then a grandchild in Marcie Cooper, herself girlfriend to Infinity Inc.'s Obsidian aka Todd Rice. His method for returning was through the dimension-spanning android Manhunters, originally designed by the Guardians of the Earth-One Universe, who initially recruited Richards as well as Paul Kirk to become their agents. Although he was sent to Earth-X so that these androids could extend their influence to another universe, Richards ultimately decided to retire his costumed identity.

However, upon returning to Earth-Two in 1943, he must have brought back with him another superhero native to Earth-Two... Captain Triumph. Triumph briefly joined the All-Star Squadron,  no doubt learning from the more experienced members on a few unspecified adventures together.

Early in that same year, Triumph first journeyed to Earth-X, apparently accompanying Rod Reilly aka Firebrand, who desired to journey to that world and had an undefined ability to cross dimensions.

Accidentally journeying to Earth-X thanks to a device created by his friend Professor Potter, Jimmy Olsen of Earth-One discovered there that he gained powers (due to an exploding volcano) comparable to those of his pal Superman. Adopting the alias of Steel-Man, a fictional creation of writer Clark Kent of that world, Olsen battled the evil LUTHAR League and its leader. That leader, who appeared like the Joker of Earths One and Two, was in actuality Kent himself. Clark lured Jimmy into a trap, allowing him to steal Steel-Man's powers, although Olsen used Krypton gas to render the villain's powers inert.

Clark was originally Kal-L, sole survivor of the planet Krypton in his universe known as Viro. Instead of landing on Earth-X in his home dimension, he ended up on Earth-Two where he used his powers for good as Wonder Boy. When his abilities began to wane in the mid-1940s, he traveled back to the world he was meant to live on… Earth-X. Sadly, as an adult Clark Kent, his thirst for his former amazing abilities turned him corrupt.

Once that threat was dealt with, Jimmy returned to Earth-One along with Professor Potter. And then, the Allied Powers of Earth-X finally lost to the Axis Powers, with the Freedom Fighters as the last surviving superheroes opposing them.

* It has been disputed that this Earth-X wasn’t the same Earth that the Freedom Fighters operated on, as there was no reference as to World War II having continued past 1945. However, Uncle Sam told the Justice Society and Justice League in 1973 that the German forces were unable to invade America until "5 years ago", in 1968. Two years prior to that, in 1966, Jimmy Olsen arrived on Earth-X and became Steel-Man over a period of mere weeks. Of course, there is no record of his meeting the Freedom Fighters, who may have been busy in Europe.

Crisis on Earth-Prime: Bat-Mite and Ultraa

Bat-Mite left Earth-One for Earth-Prime in an attempt the gain more notoriety using the production staff at DC Comics. After this caper, he disappeared never returning to Earth-One's dimension. While his counterpart, the Thunderbolt of Earth-Two, remained on that world... Mite's presence in his home universe was compensated by another powerhouse. Who might this be?

It was Ultraa aka Jack Grey, the sole superhero of Earth-Prime, who first encountered the Justice League when that team accidentally entered that universe. After these costumed crusaders together defeated a computer entity from Grey's homeworld, the League departed back to Earth-One. What they did not know was that they were being followed by the young hero.

Determined not to infect Earth-Prime with what he deemed a plague of super-powered threats there, Ultraa journeyed to Earth-One in order to reverse the trend there as well. Using alien technology, Ultraa depowered the League but errantly gave those stolen energies to the team's rivals in the Injustice Gang. Eventually, the heroes were able to defeat their foes, and imprisoned Ultraa. However, he would escape and twice more battle the League before retiring to the solitude of his new Earth's Australia, similar to where he had been raised as a boy.

Another resident of Earth-Prime, writer Cary Bates, briefly operated on Earth-Two as a pawn of the Injustice Society. Once his fellow author Elliott S. Maggin along with the Justice Society and visiting Justice League defeated the supervillains, Bates and Maggin returned to Earth-Prime.

Interestingly, around the same time Bat-Mite left the Earth-One universe, his counterpart Spectre migrated from his native Earth-Two universe to Earth-One. This occurred following the Justice Society’s battle with Creator2. When he next reappeared, Spectre was now residing on Earth-One. This Spectre could divide in two, which correlated with Batman Family pests Bat-Mite and the sinister alter ego of Batman’s butler Alfred Pennyworth, known as the Outsider.

However, another Spectre from the post-Crisis Earth journeyed to Earth-Two in 1945, and there remained aiding the Justice Society in the artificially created Asgard. And so, both Earths One and Two each had a Spectre remaining on both planets through the 1970s.

Manhunter...Meet the Manhunter...And the Other Manhunter...Oh, and the Manhunters!

Paul Kirk began life as Rick Nelson, big game hunter turned crime fighter to avenge the death of his friend Inspector Donovan of Empire City of Earth-Two. Unaware that Donovan had himself been recruited into the fraternity of the Manhunters, secretly an armada of android troops originally created on the planet Oa in a parallel universe, Rick quickly assumed to new alter egos. Borrowing the identity of a former manhunter in civilian clothes named Paul Kirk, the adventurous Nelson also assumed the costumed career of those who recruited him.

Given a special uniform modeled after the androids by the Grand Master who had originated in that other universe, Kirk as the Manhunter had a short lived yet prominent career, even joining the All-Star Squadron during the war time years in the 1940s. And then, Kirk hung up the red and blue and returned to his first love hunting in Africa, after he along with other heroes were recruited to Earth-One* when recruited by fellow former All-Star Robotman, these men becoming reacquainted with their long lost All-Star teammate Hank "Steel" Heywood".

However, while stalking one prey, Kirk let down his guard and was stampede. Fortunately, Heywood had set up an organization known as the Council to enforce order on this world as his Squadron had on Earth-Two, although without the moral factor in the equation. Kept in a coma for decades while his body was repaired, the Council scientists cloned Kirk's body to make duplicates of the hero to be their personal army.

Back on his homeworld of Earth-Two, another Manhunter agent named Molly Mayne assumed the alter ego of the Harlequin. She was specifically assigned to test and torment her world's Green Lantern, Alan Scott, whom the android Manhunters felt was as much as threat as their former Guardian masters and their Green Lantern Corp in Earth-One's universe. In addition to the illusion-generating eyewear and special mandolin weaponry gifted her by her android benefactors, the Manhunters also gave her Harlequin clones who mindlessly followed her will during one adventure versus the Lantern. What became of these faux-femme fatales after the Harlequin was defeated is unknown.

When revived, Kirk was trained further in combat skills with the intent of leading these clones for the Council, and Heywood's, personal agenda. Instead, Kirk rebelled and joined Interpol agent Christine St. Clair and a man named Nitobe in defeating the Council, and destroy all the clones. All, that is, save one who would infiltrate and lead the Secret Society of Super-Villains in a battle to stem the tide of Darkseid's invasion of Earth-One. He perished trying to end the threat bend the Society in Darkseid.

* Paul Kirk and his eleven All-Star Squadron compatriots who migrated to Earth-One on or after 1945 had their places taken over in Earth-Two’s universe by the Justice Society of post-Crisis Earth-0, who protected that realm from the incursion of forces in an adjacent faux-Asgard dimension. In time, the Society were themselves replaced by the dozen Daemen of their home reality, so that Society could return to Earth-0.

Migrants of Multiple Earths: The Mekanique Method

Under mysterious events during the middle 1940s to the year 1950, several superheroes and their young sidekicks disappeared from their native Earth-Two, and later became the first wave of costumed crusaders of Earth-One.

From in-story references, we know that: a.) there was a connection between Hank "Commander Steel" Heywood... originally of Earth-Two and the first All-Star to migrate to Earth-One... and Per Degaton, the time travelling tyrant, b.) several heroes' "DC’s Who's Who" entries state both their affiliation to Earth-Two's All-Star Squadron as well as detailing their later lives on Earth-One, c.) Steel's recruitment of Infinity, Inc. to obtain assistance from Earth-Two heroes on what he viewed as hero-deprived Earth-One. Connecting the dots provides us with an idea as to the order of events that precipitated the migration of a dozen mystery men and their allies during 1946 from Earth-Two to Earth-One, as follows....

Steel had in his possession a futuristic transponder that a German scientist purchased from the Monitor in order to send the Justice Battalion into hyperspace. When he was accidentally shunted to Earth-One by this device in 1942, Heywood joined the military and then returned to the United States towards the end up World War II, Hank used this device to contact select individuals from his home world at some point between 1945 and 1946.

The robot-woman Mekanique had betrayed the Squadron in 1942, and although her body had been destroyed, her head with its time-space crystal was preserved at Project M by lab assistant Per Degaton, who was a colleague of Chuck Grayson. Thus, prior to starting his criminal career, Degaton formed a relationship through Grayson and his pal Robotman, and through them with Heywood… although on separate worlds.

Heywood was able to use the Monitor's transponder to communicate with his old ally Robotman aka Paul Dennis through the cybernetic head of Robbie’s former “girlfriend” Mekanique. Utilizing her ability to cross dimensional planes, Robotman initiated Mekanique's trans-dimensional capabilities and brought along with himself several former fellow All-Stars to Earth-One. Robotman and Steel recruited TNT, Dyna-Mite, Manhunter, Guardian among with Newsboy Legion and Guardian’s younger brother Will, Air Wave, and Zatara. Years later, as previously mentioned, Steel would do much the same thing when he temporarily recruited Infinity, Inc. of Earth-Two to battle the newest incarnation of the Justice League on Earth-One.

No doubt these heroes and their colleagues were inspired by the example a few years prior of Uncle Sam, a patriotic hero like Steel who recruited several members of the All-Star Squadron into forming the Freedom Fighters, protecting another earth in Earth-X that had no superheroes. And so, the first generation of superheroes on Earth-One were migrants from Earth-Two.

Heywood would secretly sponsor research on cloning technology through his Council and the young adept minds of the Newsboy Legion. These now adult Legionnaires became aspiring geneticists using perfect physical specimens such as Guardian and Manhunter, incorporating cybernetic technology Robotman utilized, while TNT and Dyna-Mite could add insight into atomic technology. Larry Jordan incorporated the Monitor's device into teleportation technology he would use as Air Wave. All of these great minds were orchestrated by Heywood in order to bring about a new world order on his adopted world, to model it after his home world of Earth-Two! But what became of these All-Stars later in life on their adopted world?

  • Larry Jordan aka Air Wave and Zatara fathered their own counterparts in a son in Hal Jordan a and daughter in Zatanna Zatara! Air Wave perished in the prime of his life when his son was 3 years old, while Zatara journeyed throughout the Multiverse when his daughter was still a little girl, before reuniting with Zatanna when she was a young adult!
  • Jim "Guardian" Harper and his little brother Will pursued civilian lives as had the four Newsboy Legionnaires. Eventually, Jim and the Newsboys were each cloned for a new generation, while Will died soon after his son Roy "Speedy" Harper was born, counterpart to his native world's Speedy!
  • Paul Kirk retired his Manhunter alter ego, and during a big game hunt ended up in a coma for decades. When he awoke, he learned he had become the template for an army of clones of the Council. This Council attempted to rule the world, which Kirk would help defeat at the cost of his life, just as his surviving clone would do when facing Darkseid!
  • TNT and Dyna-Mite had been recruited by Steel during the waning days of the Manhattan Project, only to find that their powers had increased and become unstable on their adopted world. They were kept in an underground bunker, and ultimately moved to the cities of Kandor and Atlantis to live out their lives after meeting Earth-One's Super Friends. TNT joined the Kandorians on the new trans-dimensional world of Rokyn while Dyna-Mite remained in Aquaman's city indefinitely.
  • Robotman made several appearances on Earth-One from 1946 until 1953, then worked alongside the Justice League of America during their first case. Robbie was soon after trapped in suspended animation within a cave for over a decade. Once revived he migrated back to Earth-Two, and had his mind transplanted into the body of his now brain dead former colleague Chuck Grayson. Assuming his late friend’s identity, There he renewed his friendship with members of the Justice Society, even testifying at a congressional hearing they were involved in.

  • In 1950, Sargon had himself traveled from Earth-Two to Earth-One and become reacquainted with these heroes and Hank Heywood. He left his native Earth at that time due to all superheroes (aside from a select few) being banned by the United States government, and his awareness as to where some of his fellow All-Stars migrated to within the Multiverse. Unfortunately over time, after a brief marriage failed (except for having a close relationship with his ex-wife’s niece), and Sargent turned evil. Seeking to gain more power for himself, Sargon ended up being a recurring foe of the Flash and later Wonder Woman, although he did end up helping the Justice League in their battle with Starbreaker.

  • Decades later, Steel employed Degaton and charged him with the task of rebuilding Mekanique’s body after his initial plans with Steel's fellow All-Stars had failed, given their own individual life choices. During this occasion, Degaton retrieved Mekanique's head, attaching it to a new body and sent her to Earth-One to fulfill her mission before she returned to Degaton's side in a post-Crisis universe.
While the Justice Society of America* of post-Crisis Earth-0 assumed the place vacated by the above All-Stars, migrating to Earth-Two and its adjacent Apokolips Ragnarok notional dimension, this was only for a few years (with the exception of four additional teammates who joined them there**). When the JSA returned to their own Earth, an Earth-0 group known as the Daemen filed their roles and offset the departing All-Stars on Earth-One. Their membership included Arquoi, Blaquokar, Calabri, Dhaozan, Feth Sudol, Gulgak, Huromon, Inztuk, Kistimaak, Piztok, Tzingaas and Zhazor. These former villains redeemed themselves as they protected both Earth-Two and all other reality from then onward within Asgard.

* The Earth-O Justice Society members who migrated to Earth-Two's Asgard were Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Flash, Green Lantern, Hourman, Atom, Sandman, Sandy, Johnny Thunder (and his Thunderbolt), Starman, Doctor Mid-Nite, Wildcat. These individuals compensated for the loss of All-Stars Air Wave, TNT, Dyna-Mite, Sargon, Zatara, Robotman/Chuck Grayson (the brain of the former and the brain-dead body of the latter), Manhunter, Guardian, his brother Will Harper, and Guardian's four Newsboy Legionnaires: Tommy Tompkins, Big Words, Gabby, Scrapper.

** Four other Justice Society teammates also briefly resided in this Earth-Two adjacent dimension: 1.) the Spectre, 2.) Doctor Fate, 3.) Power Girl and 4.) Star-Spangled Kid. Similarly, four individuals briefly appeared in Earth-One’s universe: 1.) the original Spectre of Earth-Two, 2.) the former Earth-Two Lord of Chaos known as Doctor Chaos, 3.) Lesla-Lar, the Kara Zor-El/L of Earth-Three raised in Kandor, 4.) Chuck Grayson who accompanied his friend Robotman to Earth-One before ending up brain dead soon after.

Migrants of Multiple Earths: The Enrichette Connection

In August 1966, the scientific colleague of Ray "the Atom" Palmer... Enrichetta Negrini... created an experimental space-warp machine that malfunctions. As a result, several inhabitants of Earths One and Two end up on the other world. For example, the Justice League member Batman and his foe Blockbuster were sent to Earth-Two, while Justice Society members Doctor Mid-Nite and Black Canary along with their foe Solomon Grundy were sent to Earth-One.

Others who transitioned from Earths Two to One during this occasion were the criminals known as Captain Challenge, Crazy Quilt, and Gentleman Ghost. There were also other undocumented individuals who likewise were relocated from Earth-One to Earth-Two and visa versa, like a groom and golfer pictured.

Two years later, those migrants to Earth-Two returned to Earth-One along with that world's billions of other inhabitants when Alan Scott aka the original Green Lantern willed his power ring to transfer all "evil" from his world, which meant all humans then living on Earth-Two were shifted over to the Nevada desert. Kept in stasis briefly, they were discovered by Hal Jordan aka the newest Green Lantern, who sought out his counterpart. Together, Alan and Hal willed their power rings to transfer all of those from Earth-Two who were then present in that desert back to that world... including the Earth-One transplants among them. This reversed Alan's first action, which specified all humans with evil natures, focused on all currently living on Earth-Two.

While this would seem to be an unbalanced arrangement, as the Earth-Two migrants now on Earth-One remained, note that there were Sinestro's three gangsters a year earlier from Earth-One who remained on Earth-Two. These three humans transformed into Sinestro clones on Earth-Two balanced out the loss of Captain Challenge, Crazy Quilt and Gentleman Jim Craddock now on Earth-One (each of whom used their technology to conceal their presence on their new world, while other migrants were returned to their native worlds)

An equal number of migrants consistently remained in each realm at all times. This was illustrated in the case of Enrichetta Negrini's space warp and, decades earlier on Earth-Two, Uncle Sam's warp to Earth-X, if migrants transfer between universes long term... this can cause both to collide into one another and destroy them both! Thankfully, this did not happen, as both times the balance was restored soon thereafter.

Exiles of the Planet Oa Terrorize the Multiverse

Early in the history of Earth-One's universe, a scientist of the planet Maltus named Krona had been obsessed with learning the secrets of the past. While on the world known as Oa, Krona used technology to witness the dawn of creation, something that had been strictly prohibited by his society as they had somehow become aware of the dire consequences for his actions. In fact, instead of attaining increased knowledge, Krona's contemptuous curiosity caused his own universe to be replicated an infinite number of times, spawning the Multiverse and the Anti-Matter Universe. For his crimes, his fellow Oans banished him to wander his universe by transforming him into a globe of energy. Not long thereafter, these same benevolent blue-skinned beings became the Guardians of the Universe.

Realizing that their own inherent evil might motivate them to do despicable deeds like that of the former brother, the Guardians purged all of their own negative energy and banished it in a globe of energy to wander Earth-Two's universe, where they had previously sent the Starheart. Once there, this malevolent globe gained sentience, much as its Earth-One doppelgänger, its Antithesis. Indeed the Guardians realized that the Starheart's energy would eventually locate a champion in that realm with powers similar to their own Green Lantern Corps, and were confident that this individual could combat the now sentient Evil-Globe.

And, in fact, this was accomplished when Alan Scott, wielding the green lantern and power ring, joined alongside his allies of the All-Star Squadron to vanquish this entity from Earth-Two when it merged with Joe Morgan in a fit of vengeance. The Evil Globe-Being merged with Morgan turned the former boxing trainer a gigantic being with a glowing bluish hue. Morgan aka "Nat Milligan" was the counterpart of Earth-One's Guy Gardner, aka the backup Green Lantern of Sector 2814.

As for the Guardians’ self-replicating Evil-Globe, its cosmic twin was the Guardians’ Green Globs, sentient energy entities that assisted individuals throughout the universe. The benevolent Glob secretly intervened in the lives of numerous individuals throughout the 1960s, before leaving Earth-One just as the malevolent Globe had when it was exiled from Earth-Two during the early 1940s.

Decades later, another globe of energy arrived also on Earth-Two, only this was actually Krona who had merged with Alan's power ring. Leading Scott back over to Earth-One to meet up with his counterpart Hal Jordan, both Green Lanterns were soon summoned by the Guardians who advised them that Krona had reintegrated his physical body and threatened this universe. Side-by-side, this pair defeated the villain and consigned him once more into the void of space.

A few years later, another immortal adversary of Green Lantern tied to a celestial object, the meteor-invigorated Vandal Savage, traveled from Earth-Two to Earth-One. Savage's goal was similar to that of Krona, to regain his physical vitality while dominating all others unopposed. However, he faced that world's Superman and Vandal's centuries old adversary, the Immortal Man, along with the Forgotten Heroes, who thwarted his sinister schemes. He apparently returned to Earth-Two following his defeat.

The counterpart of Krona, Ghan Uu, was one of three Buddak's from the planetary twin of Maltus who invaded Earth-Two a few years after Krona's incursion on both worlds, only he and his allies were defeated by Doctor Fate and a visiting Superman of Earth-One, who mirrored the Green Lantern's in their heroic actions in facing their age-old adversaries. While Krona returned from seemingly being wiped from existence, Ghan Uu and his two confederates perished at the conclusion of the cosmic crisis they attempted to unleash on Earth-Two and their universe.

Migrants of Multiple Earths: Emerald Energies

The year was 1978, a significant period in the Multiverse as there was numerous incursions into adjacent universes by superheroes and villains alike. For example, Earth-Two's Wizard drew four of his cronies in the Secret Society of Supervillains (and his new foe Captain Comet) first to Earth-Three before finally arriving at the world of his birth. In order to get there, he had to purloin items of power possessed by the  Crime Syndicate of America, which led the Society and Comet in direct confrontation versus CSA. After discovering the cause of a mutant plague afflicting Earth-Three, originating from Power Ring's own battery, the Captain used Power Ring's power battery to transport him to Earth-Two where he would "destroy it". Whether that was done or not, this green lantern given to Power Ring by the evil Volthoom was transferred to Earth-Two's universe.

Wizard and his Secret Society also on this occasion stole Power Ring's ring of power, Superwoman's lasso and Johnny Quick's speed helmet... which he used to transport himself and his team to Earth-Two from Earth-Three. When they arrived on Earth-Two, these devices had disappeared from Earth-Three but had not reappeared there. These three items were replicated on Earth-One by the adversarial android Amazo, a foe of the Justice League! The Syndicators apparently retrieved them on Earth-Two after they’d been freed from their Limbo prison by Per Degaton during his “Crisis on Earth-Prime” caper.

As for Earth-Three's power battery containing its former owner Volthoom‘s consciousness, this correlated in Earth-Two's universe with the dimensional deviant from the Limbo dimension known as Antithesis. This energy entity resided within the Justice League’s computer. How it was pulled from into the Earth-One universe from the same Limbo realm which the Volthoom battery and his possessor traversed is unknown. What is known is that both these sinister sentiments fed on the evil wills of those whom they controlled.

Migrants of Multiple Earths: The Swan and the Canary

An interesting anomaly took place between Earths One and Two involving a set of blonde bombshells known for their vibrating vocal cords. In Wonder Woman #288 through 290, we're introduced to Helen Alexandros who is an aspring ballet dance limited by only one thing... her appearance. Though talented, her "ugly duckling" face fails to land her an roles on stage. Granted the ability to transform from the homely brunette into the beautiful blonde known as Silver Swan, she only needs destroy Wonder Woman of Earth-One. Gaining the power of flight, great strength and a destructive swan song, she sets out to remove the Amazing Amazon from the equation. Along the way she becomes anamored by the gorgeous Captain Wonder, himself a mere fabrication of the sinister Doctor Psycho, and is ultimately defeated.

Thereafter, in Wonder Woman #291-293, the second Black Canary... Dinah Laurel Lance daughter of the original... returns to her homeworld of Earth-Two to assist Power Girl and the Huntress deal with an alien horseman known as Plague sent by the cosmic Adjudicator. Herself granted with a canary cry just as destructive as her doppelgänger’s swan song*, she makes up for her lack of strength with her savy martial arts techniques. Once this case wraps up, Canary returns to Earth-One. But how can this be... with two counterparts existing on the same Earth simultaneously, leaving a void on its parallel planet?

Actually on Earth-One, the Steve Trevor that existed around this time wasn't that world's native Trevor, but a version from a parallel planet. The original Steve on that world died years before, so through cosmic happenstance he was replaced by another version. This compensated for the extremely long-lived Steve Trevor of Earth-Two. Similarly, while Earth-Two's Black Canary lived for years on Earth-One, assuming the place of Silver Swan, who perished shortly after her debut.

As for who took Canary’s place in the Earth-Two universe, this would’ve been the alien queen M’La, whose husband Zalaz saved through the use of the Starheart. This Starheart was concentrated chaotic energy contained and stored by the Guardians of the Universe within a star in Earth-Two’s cosmos. After awakening from a coma, M’La merged with the Starheart and returned it to the star.

* While Dinah Lance didn’t possess avian wings, the power of flight and superhuman strength like Helen Alexandros’ Silver Swan alter ego, her mother Dinah Drake displayed the ability on occasion to summon a flock of birds who in unison saved both herself and a man she was working with. She did so by uttering an oath which Black Canary may have learned from her Justice Society colleague Hawkman, an oath that sonically controlled the minds of these canaries, allowing her to “fly” under their combined might!

Migrants of Multiple Earths Thesis: Part 10

Throughout DC Comics during the bronze age up until and shortly after the Crisis on Infinite Earths, there were several references to the cosmic balance. We previously considered Mallo's statement and his actions relating to the two Atoms of Earth-One and Earth-Two. Roy Thomas also speculated that "displaced cosmic energy" from the missing golden age Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Green Arrow would have to be filled with the newly created Young All-Stars.

Ultra-Humanite made a similar statement when his Secret Society abducted ten members of the Justice League and Society to upset the balance of heroes on his own Earth. This ties in with the migratory threads we've previously considered which shows why this blog exists and continues to explore the Multiverse of Mirrored Meta-humans.

The reason, incidentally, why all heroes from Earth-Two were removed instead of from Earth-One is quite simple. Of the ten heroes kidnapped and imprisoned in inter-dimensional limbo, six were Earth-Two natives while only four were of Earth-One originally, with Black Canary being the odd ball as she migrated to Earth-One years before. Had Ultra picked the reverse, no doubt all heroes from Earth-One would have been removed instead.

Migrants of Multiple Earths Thesis: Part 9

As we previously considered, there were several migrants between the Earths One and Two, mostly biological but occasionally artificial life forms as well. This digitized duo involved the Flashes of two worlds and menacing mechanoids from far future eras.

When the malevolent Rotwang from a future century deemed it necessary to suppress a rebellion in his era, he calculated that changing the past would remove the rebel's leader Maria from the timeline. To that end, he reconstructed a robot whom he previously made in Maria's image, this second version being christened Mekanique, and sent her to the 20th century to alter the course of a key event that led to Maria's birth. This sinister synthoid arrived in 1942 and carried out her master's wishes, tricking the heroic team known as the All-Star Squadron into aiding her agenda. Following this, she was for a time an associate of the Squadron and a romantic companion to the All-Star named Robotman. Eventually, she sided with the heroes' arch-enemy Per Degaton, and together the pair attempted to eliminate the Squadron. When this failed, only her head with its temporary crystal remained, left in the possession of Degaton, while her body was destroyed.

Another mechanized man who journeyed across the dimensional barrier, in the reverse direction, was the sentry from the 64th Century which Flash brought with him from Earth-One as he tracked down his foe Abra Kadabra, now battling Earth-Two's Flash in Keystone City! This sentry was never shown as leaving Earth-Two, and it is assumed that Earth's Flash, Jay Garrick, tracked the wheeled sentry down and scrapped it for parts.

Shortly after the mechanized man arrived on Earth-Two, Per Degaton reassembled Mekanique's body while under the employ of former All-Star Hank "Commander Steel" Heywood, and sent her to Earth-One where Heywood himself migrated to. Both Steel and Mekanique battled the combined might of the Justice League, Justice Society and Infinity, Inc. in the League's Detroit headquarters on Earth-One, before the she-bot retreated into parts unknown.

Migrants of Multiple Earths Thesis: Part 8 Crisis Conundrem

During the height of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Lex Luthor and Brainiac assembled a large number of supervillains from the five surviving Earths in order to conquer three of them and ultimately subdue all of them. As a result, the Dastardly Duo sent legions of these costumed crooks to accomplish this task in the so-called Villain War, while the superheroes were divided up in teams to tackle this treat and protect these worlds that were under represented by champions like Earths One and Two were. As an unintended side effect of this, a number of these individuals moved permanently to new worlds in universes they were not born in and seemingly remained there through the end of Crisis.

Among the armies that arrive on Earth-Four were Black Manta, Black Spider, the new Cheetah, Evil Star, Kobra, and Lady Lunar who originated on Earth-One, and Dragon King, Gambler and Solomon Grundy of Earth-Two (while prior to this, Alexei Luthor of Earth-Two was slain before he could be disparched to this world). This was the last documented sighting of each of these individuals, hence after their collective defeat they remained there. But they were not alone. Another misguided immortal like Evil Star took his place on Earth-One, that being the immortal sole survivor of Earth-Omega, Pariah! And Lady Lunar’s departure from Earth-One was replaced by Lady Quark, last survivor of Earth-Six!

Aquagirl aka Tula of Earth-One... a native the Atlantean city of Poseidonis... was among the contingent that traveled to Earth-Four to protect it, and was asphyxiated by Chemo. Such an eventuality would not transpire with her Earth-Two twin, Princess Lanya who lived out her life in the underwater city of Venturia in that Atlantis.

The next world to be assaulted by villains and assisted by heroes was Earth-S. Among the former, were Earth-One's Clock King, Eclipso, Queen Bee and Starro alongside Earth-Two's Cheetah. Those who remained with these miscreants on Captain Marvel's home world were the six Metal Men: Gold, Lead, Iron, Tin, Mercury and Platinum.

Concurrent with these events, the she-robot Mekanique of Earth-Two ended her temporary stay on Earth-One under Commander Steel's employee, then disappearing from before the combined might of the Justice Society and Justice League. She has been proceeded by two other mechanized marvels in Robotman and Commander Steel himself (a fourth self-aware automaton Goitrude the Taxi had also been sent from Earth-Two to Earth-One previously)!

The last of the terra-firma triad, Earth-X, was itself home to a large number of migrants from Earth-Two decades earlier. This included Doll Man*, Firebrand*, Human Bomb, Phantom Lady, as well as others who have since left that world behind in Jester, Manhunter* with his dog Thor, Plastic Man, Quicksilver and the Spider. While this left a vacancy of 15 living entities who left Earth-Two during the peak of the Crisis, this same event precipitated the removal of 15 protectors from Earth-One’s universe, who either perished in Earth-Four, the Anti-Matter Universe or waves emanating from it into their reality.

That world only had three from this conflict who arrived during the Villain War that remained on Earth-X... Fastball of Earth-One, aa well as the Silver Ghost and the Mist of Earth-Two.

Another individual displaced was Earth-One's Justice League of Wonder Woman, shortly after she'd been tasked with protecting Earth-S. Her time-displaced younger self Wonder Tot was removed simultaneously from Earth-One continuity by Jonni DC, who deposited the Tot into Limbo between universes. This ultimately erased Wonder Woman from existence later during the conclusion of the Crisis, with her presence on Earth-One then being filled with Jonni who had migrated from Earth-Two.

Indeed, an equal number of persons from both Earths One and Two left these behind for new universes. But there were other notable departures during this Multiverse scale conflict.

Nighthawk of the 18th century Earth-One along with a pair of lasses also perished due to an anti-matter wave along with his horse, while the four Losers during Earth-Two's World War II also perished from "shadow demons", enhanced soldiers from the Anti-Matter Universe. Interestingly, the Earth-One Losers perished shortly thereafter as casualties of the War itself.

Prince Gavyn aka the cosmic powered Starman perished while protecting his planet-less people due to an anti-matter wave, leaving behind his home realm within the the Earth-One universe.

Another cosmic powered hero who was a former occupant of Earth-Two, after he lived for a brief period of time on Earth-One, was the Immortal Man. In his most current form, he used his abilities to protect others while at risk to his own life. Due to the Crisis, he never returned to his native universe.

Instances of Crisis-level events precipitating the transfer of inhabitants from one universe to another had occurred in the years proceeding these monumental event. For example, the Earth-One Champion family... all four of them... left for Earth-Two after indirect interference with one of the Monitors responsible for the Crisis.. Another quartet, the Newsboy Legion, had come from Earth-Two and moved to the Champion's former world during a crisis of their own.

Then there were the instances of "Crisis on Earth-One" or "Crisis on Earth-Two", etc. Such as when  the Justice Society met Earth-One's Legion of Super-Heroes and the Justice League met Earth-Two's Law's Legionnaires. Or when allies of the Justice League who were (at that time) non-members such as Elongated Man, Metamorpho and Zatanna joined them on a case to save Earth-Two, while villains such as the Shade, Thinker and the Fiddler tormented Earth-One's Flash, Atom and Teen Titans. While not permanent migrants, these individuals had prominent and often significant effects on these alternate earths thanks to their influence on these occasions.

* Some heroes moving to Earth-X during Crisis such as Doll Man and Manhunter returned to Earth-Two years later, while other Earth-Two characters such as Firebrand and Silver Ghost left Earth-Two for Earth-X and took their place.

Migrants of Multiple Earths Thesis: Part 7

Two prominent elemental entites made the trip to Earth-One from Earth-Two: Ulthoon the Tornado Champion and  John Smith the second Red Tornado.

The scarlet spinning android known as the second Red Tornado was created on Earth-Two, where it had merged with the Tornado Champion entity who moved from Earth-One’s reality to the android's universe. There it coexisted with the android containing Ulthoon for the next few years.

Eventually, while assisting his Justice Society allies versus the Iron Hand and his massive celestial Nubula Hand which was gradually crushing Earth-Two, Red Tornado volunteered to launch the Nebula Rod into the the cosmic force. While he his destroyed it, just saving Earth-Two and its inhabitants, the concussive force propelled the android across universes, resulting in his crash landing on Earth-One.

With no method of safely returning to Earth-Two, Red Tornado made a home for himself on Earth-One. Thus, for a time both Earths had a tornado being operating in them that originated from the other Earth, before both Red Tornado and its Champion within were pulled in the Anti-Matter universe in 1985, when it was corrupted… with the once noble hero now longer existing.

Migrants of Multiple Earths Thesis: Part 6

As the Second World War approached a conclusion on multiple worlds in 1945, events quickly transpired that would shake parallel realities Earths One and Two. During this cataclysmic events, numerous masked men... as superheroes were then called... journeyed to new Earths. Among these were members of the All-Star Squadron of two separate realities.

A small group of All-Star Squadron members from Earth-Two were recruited by their former teammate Hank "Commander Steel" Heywood to travel to his new home on Earth-One. This world had no established costumed crusaders, which he felt were necessary during the waning days of the war. And so, the following All-Stars journeyed to Earth-One using a portal which Steel established throught the Mekanique mechanism of the future: Airwave, TNT, Dyna-Mite, Sargon (who came later in 1951), Zatara, Robotman, Manhunter and the Guardian. In addition, James "Guardian" Harper brought with him the four members of the Newsboy Legion which he mentored through the years, these being Tommy Tompkins, Big Words, Gabby and Scrapper. James Harper also brought his younger brother Will, who would eventually become father to Roy "Speedy" Harper of Earth-One!

Commander Steel had himself inadvertently been focibly displaced onto Earth-One in the midst of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, due to being caught in a dimensional mechanism utilized by Nazi scientist Gootsden which he obtained from the alien Monitor. Around this same time, the Monitor had sent a sentient android construct known as Real American to Earth-Two, which essentially took Steel's place... although instead of an ally of the All-Star Squadron, he was their bitter foe.

A corresponding number of superheroes arrived on the  Earth-Two adjacent dimension of Asgard from the post-Crisis Earth-0. These Justice Society members were Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Flash, Green Lantern, Atom, Hourman, Sandman, Sandy, Johnny Thunder (with his Thunderbolt), Starman, Doctor Mid-Nite, Wildcat. Additionally, the post-Crisis versions of Power Girl*, Star-Spangled Kid**, Doctor Fate*** and the Spectre**** temporarily resided in Earth-Two’s Asgard. These heroes experienced perpetual recycling of these events in this realm.

Eventually,  the group known as the Daemen from post-Crisis Earth-0 took the place of the Justice Society during the Ragnarok War. These villains turned anti-heroes included: Arquoi, Blaquokar, Calabri, Dhaozan, Feth Sudol, Gulgak, Huromon, Inztuk, Kistimaak, Piztok, Tzingaas and Zhazor. Each of the Earth-0 Society/Daemen met tragic ends in battle in Earth-Two’s reality, although the events would play out an infinite number of times from the start of the battle until its conclusion.

As for the ex-All-Stars now residing on Earth-One, most of them soon after arriving on their new home retired their costumed careers. Some of them, such as Larry "Air Wave" Jordan, John Zatana, Will Harper and probably John "Sargon" Sargent each settled down to start families. Others such as the Guardian and Paul "Manhunter" Kirk had their lives tragically cut short through traumatic events. Robotman had a brief career on Earth-One where he was included in the Justice League’s first case. Shortly after, he moved back to Earth-Two where he was inadvertently placed  in suspended animation for several years while his pal Chuck Grayson was kept alive yet brain dead for decades. TNT and Dyna-Mite were kept within protective bunkers when their powers started to become wildly controllable. The Newsboy Legion lads grew up tobecame prominent geneticists, with their sons taking over for them in the late 1970s.

* This Power Girl duplicate in this pocket dimension of Eatth-Two  was the physical counterpart of Lesla-Lar, the physical twin of Supergirl. However, just as Lesla resided in the shrunken Bottled-City of Kandor flying through space, so too Lesla’s mental twin Laren resided within the mind of Power Girl in her virtual Kandor aboard the Symbioship.

** This Star-Spangled Kid merged with an Asgardian Prince, becoming the counterpart of Earth-One's Prince Gavyn, who like this warrior prince seemingly lost his life when he gained stellar powers and became Starman.

*** This Earth-0 Doctor Fate corresponded to the former Lord of Chaos known as Doctor Chaos that once battled Superboy on Earth-One (while Doctor Chaos’ human partner Burt Belker was the counterpart of Kent “Doctor Fate” Nelson’s father Swen Nelson) . This Fate’s second Kent Nelson persona kept mentally sedated mirrored the brain-dead Chuck Grayson.

**** This Earth-0 Spectre filled the void in Earth-Two's universe left behind by the Spectre of that dimension, who migrated for a time to Earth-One.

Migrants of Multiple Earths Thesis: Part 5

Several golden age characters first appeared in the context of the silver age world of Earth-One, wherein it was thought that Superboy was that world's first hero approximately twenty-some years prior to the presently published tales. For instance, the Guardian appeared with his Newsboy Legion aiding that world's Jimmy Olsen, Manhunter teamed up on one occasion with the modern Batman, and Air Wave was identified as the cousin of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern. Both were Jordans, after all, so why not tie them together?

Then the decidedly different All-Star Squadron was published, and all these characters were members of that team back in the 1940's when their tales were published. Further, the series Who's Who which was published concurrent with the Crisis on Infinite Earths listed each character's history (as well as that of Zatara, Sargon, and Commander Steel) from their joining the All-Stars to their modern-day meetings of Earth-One's heroes. This was then explained in an All-Star letter column as individuals who migrated from Earths Two to One (and this was further solidified during a team-up of the Justice League and Justice Society by a comment Flash made to teammate Power Girl when she met Sargon)

Yet how could Air Wave be cousins with Mr. Jordan? Further, how could Jim Harper, the Guardian, be the uncle of Roy Harper aka Speedy? We can explain this quite simply. When he moved to Earth-One, Larry Jordan sought out familial connections. Instead, he met Helen Jordan and fell in love with her. She was the actual cousin of Hal, Larry was but an in-law. And the Guardian? Remember there were TWO Roy Harpers who would become Green Arrow's sidekick Speedy. While uncle to the Earth-Two version, Jim Harper himself sought out family when moving to Earth-One and was the "long lost" uncle of the orphaned lad. This is not unheard of, for Earth-Two's Huntress referred to her father's Earth-One counterpart Bruce Wayne as "Uncle Bruce". Earth-One's Superman and Earth-Two's Power Girl affectionately called one another cousins on occasion.

Interestingly, the five characters pictured in this entry, along with the four members of the Newsboy Legion, had counterparts that were their very spawn! Zatara' daughter Zatanna* , Larry Jordan's son Hal, Commander Steel's grandson Henry III... not to mention the clones of the Jim Harper... the Golden Guardian of Cadmus Project... and the younger Newsboy Legion clones, and the clone of Paul Kirk who as the next Manhunter assumed his "father's heroic legacy while attempting to undermine the Secret Society of Super-Villains.

In fact, Project Cadmus on Earth-One mirrored Project M of Earth-Two, which was a top secret government agency operating in America during the early days of  World War II. Project M (for Monster) was founded by Professor Mazursky, who like Cadmus founder Dabney Donovan, was a "mad scientist" type and thus very unethical in his approach towards science. Both Projects specialized in creating clones and synthetic monsters, with some being successful such as Dubbilex the DnAlien (whose Monster doppleganger never successfully awoke from its hatching chamber) as well as Miss America (whose Earth-One twin Element Girl may have been given her powers by an earlier incarnation of Cadmus).

In fact, the latter would herself be another migrant to a third parallel planet known as Earth-X alongside the Freedom Fighters where she perished. Other creations of Mazursky and his colleague Chuck Grayson, who was the assistant to robotics scientist Robert "Robotman" Crane, were the Creature Commandos and G.I. Robot. The fact that both Grayson and Miss America were a part of Project M solidifies that it was the Earth-Two analogue to Project Cadmus. And Crane would also coincidentally be a migrant to Earth-One, establishing his alter ego of the Paul Dennis of that world before returning to his native world and universe with his mind now housed in Grayson's body! More migrants tied to these individuals will be revealed henceforth...

Migrants of Multiple Earths Thesis: Part 4 Old West and War Times

On Earth-One, during a concurrent  instance of a Crisis anti-matter wave which effected its late 19th century, Hannibal Hawkes as Nighthawk fled for his life from this occurrence. However, Nighthawk faced a similar end to the one Miss Gofooey and her mother (named earlier in this tale) had experienced, as an anti-matter wall collapsed upon them in the accompanying picture.

Also concurrent to this Crisis event across space and time, the lives of band of World War II soldiers on Earth-Two known as the Losers ended, as had their identical counterparts on Earth-One at the same time! While the former perished due to unnatural anti-matter, the latter perished in the midst of battle. Each quarter of Losers consisted of the members sailor Captain Storm, aviator Johnny Cloud, and troopers Sarge and Gunner.

To counterbalance the poor souls from Earth-One's Old West, was the Easy Company soldier of Earth-Two named Flower and Nazi soldiers whom he was facing. These events correlated the number of casualties on each world due to the incursion of Anti-Monitor's forces on their respective universes.

But then, there were several golden age mystery men who traveled from Earth-Two directly to Earth-X, and this would develop into an imbalance of another kind. This was contrasted with what transpired with various masked men like Nighthawk and marvelous maidens of Earth-One, who were forcably thrust into other universes... be they anti-matter or positive matter... where they met untimely ends. What were the stories of these brave individuals and their equally infamous opponents who made the same cross-dimensional trips? To find these answers, these are found in a previous post chronicling the final tales of Supergirl, Flash, and many more during the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
