Superman wasn't the sole survivor of his world, as we've previously considered. Among the earliest fellow Kryptonians whom he encountered were actual winged dragon-like beasts, specifically the Flame Dragon who attacked Earth-One and the Snagriff who preyed upon Earth-Two. While these counterpart creatures were slightly different in appearance, they essentially were similar in their ferocious bestial nature and flame breathing prowess.
The Flame Dragon had escaped Krypton-One's orbit before its destruction, leaving its brethren behind to face that world's doom, and battled Superman until the man of steel deprived the beast of its superpowers and froze it in space.
The Snagriff was destroyed after consuming several atomic bombs. While the latter was the last of its kind, the former spawned offspring that were eventually sent to a past era of Krypton. Additionally, the Snagriff had a metallic substance created by Jor-L that bonded with the creature upon the destruction of Krypton-Two's moon Koron.
Koron’s counterpart moon, known as Wegthor, was destroyed by the criminal Jax-Ur. A substance similar , metallic protoplasmic entity developed by Kryptonian scientist Sur-Ze was jettisoned into space from Krypton-One by Jor-El.
This creature later bonded to General D.W. Derwent, who was disgruntled after having been injured by someone whom he thought was Superman. As the Kryptonoid, this new composite creature displayed various shape-changing abilities and challenged Superman. He eventually realized that it was actually a Superman robot, the same one which bonded to him creating a new powerful being. Using intense cold, Superman froze the Kryptonoid rendering him inert.
