Bill Baggett found a nefarious niche when he discovered the means to control the power ring of Hal Jordan: through use of willpower. He first discovered this when Green Lantern of Earth-One was testing the effect of his remote control over his power ring in an environment that was effected by radiation. When he located the ring which Hal had left in a cave, Baggett used it to begin a new criminal career harnessing its energies for evil Jordan defeated him. On a later occasion, Baggett used his superior will power to grapple the ring from Jordan, but once more Jordan won and his foe was nevermore seen.
Early in the costumed career of Alan Scott of Earth-Two encountered a second Green Lantern like himself... only with wicked intent. During a pneumonia epidemic grilling Capital City, a crime boss has stolen funds necessary to purchase the medicinal cure. Seeking to raise the funds himself, Green Lantern’s initial success leads to an impersonator dressed like himself seeking to con innocents to give him money. When he hears this, the real Green Gladiator is incensed at this and confronts the Ersatz Emerald enemy. Exposed as a fraud, this criminal is sidelined while the real deal succeeds in saving his city and capturing the criminals behind the shortage.
