Among the craziest characters that caused Crimson Comets of cousin cosmos conundrums were the rambunctious redheads: Melanie of Earth-One and Ebenezar of Earth-Two.
The lovesick lass, who's only known name is Melanie, somehow gaining the ability of mind control. She became obsessed with the Flash of Central City, so much so that she tracked him down and mental ensnared him on more than one occasion in order to unmask the object of her affection. Once seeing his true face as Barry Allen, Melanie left disappointed at his appearance.
The Worry Wort, born as Ebenezer Jones, was a man with an affliction of heightened anxiety. His doctor Professor Haman had discovered that when Jones was a lad this affliction was due to a germ, and so made it contagious with an inoculation to protect Haman while profiting from the uneven mental state of effected individuals whom he attempted to plunder.
As a result, the self styled Worry Wort caused the citizens of Keystone City to exhibit both feelings of worry and elated joy that such an unreasoning degree that they became susceptible to Jones criminal allies. Although himself innocent, Ebenezer still used his emitted mental rays trying to support himself. Time and again, the Flash and his alter ego Jay Garrick prevented Jones' powers from being a lasting danger to him or the community, providing him pills that balanced his condition.
Then there was Melanie, who had become involved in battle between the Flash and former prisoner turned psychotic powerhouse Clyde Yorkin, whom she attempted to mentally calm down and... when that failed... projects positive thoughts into Flash about his alter ego Barry Allen's loving relationship with his late wife Iris, which overpowers the energy draining Yorkin whom Flash defeats.
