Extra-dimensional planets of Kalanor-One and Brztal-Two were peaceful until two malignant mental minds entered the fold. These were Despero and Kulak, each of whom had gained the power to control men's will and effect tremendous energies in their vicinity from their third eyes. They soon attracted the attention of human heroes, in fact... the Greatest Superheroes of Two Earths!
After his first defeat at the hands of Earth-One's Justice League of America, along with two residents of Kalanor who tracked him down there, Despero had his third-eye which granted him powers surgically removed in order to prevent him from tormenting others in the future. However, the mutation reasserted the eye, and on several more times throughout the decades, he was a threat. These included an occasion when Despero created three dimensional planes to exile the League members to temporarily, an adventure involving Supergirl and her cousin dealing with the villain, and a third incident wherein Despero and the Martian Manhunter play a game of chess with the League as pawns. Each time, Despero nearly succeeded before ultimately failing.
After his first defeat at the hands of Earth-Two's Spectre, Kulak found the means through the Ring of LIfe to revive himself from a coma and once more attack that world. This time, he faced the Justice Society of America, although Kulak had at his disposal the Spectre who now obeyed his commands. However, the Society were aided by the hero known as Sargon, who using his Ruby of Life counteracted the ring and maneuvered Doctor Fate in a position whereby Kulak was duped into wearing Fate's indestructible helmet, which reflected his optical might back onto his own mind. The effect was to send Kulak through several dimensions of space and time, although decades later Fate and perhaps his Justice Society allies retrieved the helmet. What became of Kulak is unknown.
