Evil Elementals: Agressive Altered Adversaries

One of the less prestigious foes of the Doom Patrol was Mister 103 (and later 104), a scientist named John Dubrovny who devised the means to transform his body into the various elements. Three times he faced the Patrol, and three times he struck out.

According to the Batman Encyclopedia, another such individual known as the Element Man was of Earth-Two. Unlike his Earth-One counterpart, this villain was the assistant of Professor Higgins. When radiation from a device gave John Dolan similar powers he adopted the Element Man alias, and had to face an Element Batman who tricked him into the waiting arms of Higgins. Repairing Dolan's power-regulating belt, presumably his criminal tendencies brought on by his condition were also eliminated.

During their battle, Batman turned into an elemental man himself, gaining attributes that his fellow All-Star Amazing-Man, which his Earth-One counterpart Metamorpho also possessed. And since that Bat and Metamorpho were teammates on both the Justice League and the Outsiders, this balances things out nicely. Whether Dolan resurfaced, should the powers lie dormant, is unknown. As is what became of Dubrovny, although rumor has it he was recruited for a government black ops squad, wherein he perished in a mission in Russia.
