Evil Elementals: Masters of Disaster and Sun's Satellites

The Masters of Disaster and the Sun's Satellites were themed villains tapping into climatic sources of power to implement their evil schemes. These fearsome fives faced failure.

New Wave (capable of transforming her body mass into water) led the Masters consisting of the pair of lovers Heatstroke and Coldsnap (who generated heat waves and freezing cold, respectively), the strong man Shakedown (who caused the earth to quake), and Wave's good nature little sister Windfall (generating wind gusts). This gang contracted themselves to various criminals as hired muscle, which led them into conflict twice with Batman and Outsiders.

Initially, they were employed to enact revenge against Black Lightning, for a death he inadvertently caused. On the next occasion, it was to cause a disruption during the wedding of Metamorpho to his longtime girlfriend Sapphire Stagg. On both occasions, these victimized heroes were aided by their Outsiders allies in defeated the Master.

Years before the Masters' debut, another quintet of quarrelers appeared to bedeviled Batman and the then boy wonder Robin, in reality, and each of these villains were in actuality Professor Norbert, a prominent scientist who had devise several specialized costumes granting the wearer with abilities modeled after various planets in the solar system of Earth-One. As the Planet-Master, Norbert had ringed weaponry in his Saturn suit, a flaming aura in his Mercury coveralls, a freezing ray in his Mars motif, gaseous emissions in his Venus garb, enlarging gadgets in his Jupiter jumpers. Norbert's temporary insanity that motivates him to criminal acts eventuality wore of, and he aided the Dynamic Duo in defeating his lab assistant who attempted to steal the Professor's equipment.

Norbert's counterpart on Earth-Two had likewise devised several space suits based on other planets, but didn't use them himself. Instead, the Sun aka Boss Moroni and his gang broke into his laboratory and plunded his inventions for their own criminal use. Sun (utilizing a solar reflector) renamed his gang the Satellites consisting of Comet and Moon (with heat and freeze weaponry) along with Saturn (with his ensnaring hoops) and Mercury (with his gas gun). 

The quintet faced Earth-Two's Starman and were soundly defeated. When they returned a short time later for a rematch with the Astral Avenger.. albeit only three of them on that second occasion.. they again faced defeat versus their foe.
