Man made monsters indeed. Scientists turned brutes Mark Desmond and James Stanton were thorns in the sides of two Dynamic Duos over and over again. Brilliant minds coupled with mammoth musculature, these two rogues were top level threats to humanity at large.
Desmond was a genius lad who developed a serum that would effect his endocrine glands enhancing his scrawny physique. In his haste to try this before properly experimentation, this treatment turned Mark into an invulnerable but near-mindless brute. He would soon battle Batman and Robin of Earth-One repeatedly over the years, in and out of treatments with S.T.A.R. Labs.
Professor Stanton also mastered chemistry, a similar serum that transformed him into the man monster known as Doctor Weerd and a device that created terrifying illusions on his prey. Facing Earth-Two's Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy, Weerd also devised a weaponry such as flying tornado generator, buzz-saw and gigantic robot to help him to promote his crimes.
Early in his criminal career, Blockbuster encountered fellow brute Solomon Grundy from Earth-Two who the two trade worlds. Desmond would return twice more, on the third occasion as a member of the Secret Society of Super-Villains, before returning to his world. Stanton at times battled alongside fellow felonious foes of the Kid and Stripesy, the Needle and Moonglow, after which the demented Doctor disappeared.
While Desmond eventually found a peaceful existence with a family in a secluded mining town on Earth-One, Stanton presumably resumed his primary career as a academic on Earth-Two seeing that his crime career was a failure.
