Having a case of déjà vu? It is probably an anomaly of memory, giving a false experience of seeeming to have experienced something earlier. You may want to see a doctor about it... in fact that's what Barry Allen did, when twice he faced a quandry regarding his duel identity and sought out the same doctor. Doctor Charles McNider, aka Doctor Mid-Nite of Earth-Two, had earlier met Barry with his counterpart Jay when the two Scarlet Speedsters freed he and other members of the Justice Society of America from the evil Vandal Savage. What would Doc determine is the source of the Flash's identity crisis, and loss of conviction?
Turns out these mental maladies were the result of the influence originating from time travelers of future eras, seeking to remove the Flash from the equation in order to secure they own goals, be they good or evil. Chrono officer Petar Thrant journeyed to the Flash's era in order to implant a desire to retire, disgruntled by perceived slights from his city, as his superspeed vibrations might activate a deadly vibrational bomb hidden somewhere in Central City. On a later occasion, it was Flash foe Abra Kadabra who implanted a mental suggestion in his adversary, causing him to be oblivious to crimes around him. Thanks to the intevention of Doctor Mid-Nite and other Flashs, i.e. his nephew Kid Flash and the Flash of Earth-Two (as well as Doctor Fate, in the latter case, standing in for the chrono officer), Barry was able to shake off the adverse effects from men out-of-time and save the day while catching the crooks Frand Mattar and Kadabra of future centuries.
And there are other adventures that transpired through the years regarding the Flash of Two Worlds, which will take some time to consider...
