Considering that the only costumed character of the male variety known as "Mantis" in comics had his head handing to him on a platter, repeatedly, by Blue Beetle... makes one wonder if this creature is more fear-inspring then a nocturnal mammal hanging upside down on cave walls in the Fringe alternate universe of Peter Bishop. It was revealed that instead of a Darknight Detective known as Batman, Bruce Wayne decided to "bug" the bad guys as the Mantis. Well, since he doesn't actually dress like the insect but like a... well... a Bat-Man... we can see why he would strike terror in the hearts of the underworld. Moreso than than the costumed criminal who bedeviled Earth-Four to the chorus of "sock" sounds. Well, since his alter ego was "Hunter Mann", and Batman was known as the Masked "Manhunter"... we can see the connection. Kinda sorta...
