Egyptian Era Elemental Enigmas: Metamorpho, Sandy and Two Princes
Rex Mason and Brion Marcov were teammates for several years, working side-by-side in Batman's Outsiders. Both had powers tied to the natural elements around them, with Rex controlling the chemical elements while Brion mastered the climate elements. Due to his exposure to the meteorite known as the Orb of Ra, Rex was transformed into the Element Man known as Metramorpho, who could transform his body into any combination and configuration of natural elements. Years later, exposure to technology devised by Doctor Helga Jace imbued abilities to Prince Marcov allowing him to manipulate gravity, generate heat and increase strength and endurance as the Marcovian superhero Geo-Force.
Eventually, the pair journeyed back to ancient Egypt, from which Metamorpho's origin derived, and he was used as a royal pawn against Geo-Force and the Outsiders, until he regained his senses.
During that same era, in the parallel universe of Earth-Two, Prince Khufu reigned. This prince discovered and was able to harness the forces generated from an anti-gravitational metal allowing him to both defy gravity and generate heat, as well as to increase strength. Although he died prematurely as a young man, a descendant of his in the 20th century named Carter Hall retained his memories. Among his earliest friends was fellow Justice Society member Wesley "Sandman" Dodds, who along with his partner Sandy Hawkins were members of the All-Star Squadron.
Hall found an ancient alien artifact known as the Hammer of Thor, which like the Orb of Ra controlled the elements. This hammer was later stolen by a villian named Fenton, who had exposed Sandy to harmful electrical energy that coupled with an exploding experimental silicon gun (created by Sandman) caused the lad to transform into the Silicon Creature. The Golden Boy lost his humanity, as had the Earth-One Metamorpho, although his abilities derived from the earth like those of his cosmic twin Geo-Force. As for the man believing himself to be Khufu, he retained his human nature unlike his counterpart Rex. It would be that prince's descendant, Carter, who would become the doppleganger of Katar Hol… both known as the Hawkman.
