One was a metallurgist and the other and athlete, both studious in their attempts to provide them seemingly superhuman abilities. The metallurgist invented a elastalloy with the attributes of rubber, steel and chrome... from which he made a suit out of this substance. The athlete had nurtured his mutated leg muscles over years of training into a resilient ability, upon which he created his own durable suit. Both men, as the costumed criminals known as the Bouncer, each engaged in burglar activities that drew the attention of Earth-One's Dynamic Duo and Earth-Two's Wonder Woman.
The metallurgist Bouncer was ultimately defeated when the Caped Crusaders encircled the crook and emitted twin high frequency induction beams at him, which froze his elastalloy treated gun and suit. Wonder Woman herself was still stymied when the athletic Bouncer maneuver next to a girl whom he held captive, only to be emitted with radiation from the Amazing Amazon's old foe Sumo the Samurai! And so, one bad Bouncer was frozen in his tracks, and the other was burned to a crisp. And that would have been the end of the story was these twin terrors... were it not for a possible alternate timeline scenario postulated by Earth-Prime's Gardner Fox, who perhaps perceived of a divergent world to that of Earth-One where the Bouncer actually won... at great cost the Dark Knight!

At a critical juncture, the Bouncer's "triple heart" was able to perceive his heart rate slowing, as he was able to hear it due to his condition. This reduced rate was due to the freezing effect of the induction beams emitted towards him, hence before the effect was permanent he deployed his pistol, resulting in the death of the Batman. Later, after being comforted by the Justice League of America, Robin himself confronted the Bouncer and defeated the elastic enemy by bombarding him with light and sound generated from the Batmobile. However, this was small comfort to the Boy Wonder as he had just lost his mentor Batman, and had recently also experience the death of their butler Alfred.
Interestingly, at this point the League must've contacted the Justice Society, which enlisted the aid of Earth-Two's Batman aka Bruce Wayne and Alfred to journey back to Robin's world. There, they would spend time training the lad, presumably until he reached adulthood. Interestingly, they were not accompanied by Bruce's wife Salina Kyle Wayne nor daughter Helena, indicating that their stay would only be temporary. In this what if timeline, Earth-Two's Batman mentioned that his Robin was an adult and had assumed his mantle in the other Gotham City, and a year and a half later the Justice Society indeed admitted a Batman-suit inspired Robin to their membership! One wonders had this actually occurred on Earth-One, with the ripple effects of Batman and Alfred's departure on Earth-Two, would this Dark Knight and his wife had perished? Would Helena then have ever had occasion to don the cape and cowl of the Huntress? Would Earth-One's Alfred been revived later from his comatose state? Would the younger Robin accompany Batman back to Earth-Two?
