After their inauspicious debut versus the robotic replicas of the Justice League, the Secret Society found themselves embroiled in conflict with a few of the individual Leaguers. First among those was Green Lantern, who while attempting to subdue Gorilla Grodd and Hi-Jack caught the attention of returning galaxy-traveler Captain Comet. Comet, who hadn't met fellow superheroes thus far, felt that Lantern was the villain and thus defended the two criminals from being subdued by him. This quickly led to his membership into their ranks, those ranks led by the uncover hero Manhunter, whose goal for assembling the Society was yet to be revealed. Immediately, Comet would be informed by his new leader that the team they both joined were the Supervillains.
A universe away from Earth-One, the Injustice Society reassembled for a fourth incarnation (its counterpart had only three of their own during their history) with the Fiddler and Solomon Grundy being the first members to appear while the Justice Society were trying to protect Tokyo, and were quickly by the heroic team. Shortly thereafter, the Icicle and presumably the Thinker subdued Hourman within the Justice Society's brownstone headquarter while he was on monitor duty, and then coerced him by mind-control into attacking Wildcat as well. This would setup a pitched battle between those two Societies, as what was brewing with their dopplegangers and the League in a universe only a few slight vibrational frequencies away!
