Driven career women, enchanted by the manly charms of two Gotham City guardians, find the inner drive within themselves to project onto others. And use their knack for knick-knacks to make them rivals to our Caped Crusaders
Olivia Reynolds was an aspiring saleswoman for a toy company, competing with salesman Hal Jordan. Although initially adversarial, as they each sought out the same client, the pair had a budding romance. However, this potential romance stalled when Olivia attracted the attention of the Lenglyns of the planet Lengyl-One, who found within her the power of the U-Mind, which could sustain their entire alien race. As the U-Mind, Olivia later became a pawn for the Qwardians of the Anti-Matter Universe, until Jordan was able to free her from their influence and wipe out of her memory the existence of the U-Mind.
Mary Wills was a classmate of the Dick Grayson from Earth-Two, and was an admirehis r exploits. In order to capture his attention, she trained herself extensively and devised various gadgets such as her crime compact.
Despite her preparations for her new crimefighting career as Roberta, the Girl Wonder, this did not meet with Robin's approval. The lad felt that she was putting herself in harm's way. Nevertheless, Robin used Roberta undercover to ferret out a criminal element that eluded him. When the pair were able to defeat these crooks, Robin manipulated events wherein Mary gave up her Roberta alias.
Another set of redheads whom the Lanterns met were Dorine Clay and Sally Fadden. Dorine was actually Onu Murtu of the planet Goron-One who fled her world to perfect the means of defeating the Headmen who ruled her people with their minds. She enlisted the aid in Earth-One's Green Lantern in helping her defeat them and returned to her world. Sally was a receptionist at GBS radio who enlisted in the civilian identity of Green Lantern to break up an office squabble that was at its heart the source of a city wide crimewave.
There were, of course, yet another pair of red (or at times purple) haired ladies in Gotham City who stylized themselves as pseudo-supervillains. These ladies, Duela Dent of Earth-One and Molly Maynne or Earth-Two, each adopted the alter ego of the Harlequin. However, rather than criminal pursuits, these women sought the attention of Robin and Green Lantern, respectively, and felt that becoming adversaries for these caped crusaders would garner these heroes' notice. Eventually, Robin and Duela became teammates in the Teen Titans, while Green Lantern and Molly eventually married.
