Masterful Manipulates of Marvelous Might: Arion of Atlantis and Neon the Unknown

Arion and Neon were two men in blue body suits and red capes, possessing vast energy emitting abilities, the power of flight and great insight. And mystery in their origins.

Arion, Lord of Atlantis, was born Ari'Ahn the son of two powerful alien entities who in conflict ended up seeing their son transformed into energy. He would be reconstituted later and become a powerful human once more, as the protector of Atlantis before it was submerged into the oceanic depths. On one occasion, Arion traveled to the 20th century and teamed up with the Superman of his world, Earth-One. Shortly after this, he returned to this era as one of the heroes recruited by the Monitor to protect the Multiverse during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. It was rumored that Arion lived into the 1930's.

Neon the Unknown was born Thomas Corbett who was a member of the Foreign Legion during World War II. When he and his comrades were left for dead, he ended up drinking water from a timeless oasis that gave him tremendous power and transformed him into a being that could transform from energy back to man. He was one of the recruits of Uncle Sam extracted from their native Earth-Two to protect another world within the Multiverse just prior to the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

While Neon himself did not exist millions of years ago when his counterpart Arion had first resided, the oasis undoubtedly had and Corbett was simply the 20th century candidate for its power, which was chronicled as being granted to different men over time. So a predecessor could have been the cosmic counterpart to Ari'Ahn while his modern day version and Thomas co-existed in the same time but of course within different universes.
