Paula Porter and Matilda Moorcock were two aliases given for the masked heroine known as Black Orchid. In each origin tale, she was a young women exposed to experimental irradiated orchids that gave her superhuman abilities. Whatever her true beginning, she had a knack for assuming various alter egos in order to infiltrate criminal cartels until she learned how best to defeat them, at which point she would attack her foes as a costumed crusader. She would encounter Earth-One's Superman and his Super Friends allies, and then several mystery heroes including Blue Devil and Creeper.
Dolores Winters aka Hattie Laurman was an aspiring actress until she was captured by criminals and then accidentally implanted with the brain of supervillain Ultra-Humanite. After an encounter with Earth-Two's Superman, she escaped and later returned to raid his Secret Citadel in order to steal away the Power Stone. With this device, she was imbued with superhuman abilities which she manifested in battle versus the All-Star Squadron. This encounter likewise led to another defeat when she was overpowered, although she returned a decade later with a similar body after seemingly perishing at the hands of her one-time minion, Cyclotron.
Both Orchid and Ultra had super strength, the power to project energy fields, levitation as well as a propensity to change their appearance and identity multiple times over the years. But eventually, they disappeared into new identities, as was their tendencies. The Legion of Black Orchids would appear later on including six women involved in criminal schemes, something the subsequent Ultra-Humanites would also be involved with though not-chronicled as yet.
