During a climatic battle with an invasive adversary, the masked hero protects a city in peril, but ends up having his identity revealed to the entire world. This not only effects his reputation, but also that of those closest to him. Then, a doctor uses his abilities to make all humanity forget that precious secret identity. However, in the resulting battle heroes from several Earths battle villains displaced from across the Multiverse, including multiple versions of the same costumed crusaders. In the end, all mankind forgets the existence of the hero(es), making them no longer attached to those around them. And the brave heroine of the tale who fought to help all she met... perished.
This would make an excellent movie for the Batman Family, especially Helena Wayne aka the Huntress. The tale of when her father Commissioner Bruce Wayne became the Batman one last time, in order to save Gotham City from Bill Jensen, a man who could materialize his very thoughts. Despite defeating Jensen, the villian scored a victory against his hated foes... and those whom he loved.
After having his identity revealed in the end, the entire world learned both who Batman was, and the double identities of his daughter Helena and his ward Richard. Finding the man responsible for this conflict and bringing him to justice, Huntress and Robin's teammate Doctor Fate made all mankind forget their knowledge of the Wayne and Grayson family's dual identities.
Sadly, only a few years later, both Huntress and Robin died in the Crisis on Infinite Earths, when the fabric between realities tore the Multiverse apart. After battling assembled villians from various Earths, Huntress and Robin lost their identities, and ultimately, their very lives.
May she never be forgotten.
