Larry Jordan always believed in the law. So much so, that he toiled away for an undisclosed amount of time as humble law clerk, until the day he became first an assistant district attorney and then a district attorney. Still not thinking this was sufficient to quench his thirst for justice, Larry used his aptitute as an amateur inventor to develop a special costume. As the masked man known as Air Wave, Jordan captured criminals that he could then help to convict in a court of law.
His notoriety led to membership in the All-Star Squadron, with which he participated in occasional adventures alongside fellow superheroes including the original Green Lantern. Then sometime after World War II concluded, Jordan journeyed along with a few fellow All-Stars from his native world of Earth-Two to the then hero-less parallel planet of Earth-One. There, he contined his costumed career, on and off, from the 1950s into the early 1960s.
On this new world, Jordan used his past experience to become a Manhattan district attorney. As Air Wave, he briefly met Superboy, whom he though was more impetus than the Superman of Earth-Two.
Around these time, Larry developed improvements to his costume, allowing him to convert his body into energy enabling him to ride broaadcast waves. However, the suit malfunctioned, and so Jordan confronted a burglar in his home without his tools... leaving himself vulnerable to a fatal shooting. He left behind a widow and an orphaned son.
Years later, as an older teenager, that son Hal donned his father's experimental suit in order to carry on his father's heroic legacy. On his first adventure, he met the modern day Green Lantern as the two green guardians battled a technical supervillian. After this, the two men learned two things, that they were both cousins and both named Hal. Their identical first names was based on a relative. In addition to Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Black Canary helped to train the young Air Wave, until he was skilled enough to operate on his own when he moved to Dallas, Texas. However, a question arises as to how the two Hals were related, as Uncle Larry was of another Earth than the Jordan family of Earth-One.
This question is easily answered in the third member of the Air Wave family. Larry's wife Helen was faced with a daunting task, when he husband died while saving her and their son. Immediately after this occured, she found Larry's special costume, and wore it in order to track down her husband's killer. Then after raising young Hal for years, the mental stress of this trauma became too much, and so she sent her boy to live with is cousins Jack and Jan in Dallas.
Unlike her counterpart, the Helen Jordan of Earth-Two ... who was Sargon's occasional foe Lightning Bug... Helen didn't use such electronic technology for crime, setting a good example for her son that set his life course.
And it seems that before marrying Larry, her maiden name was already Jordan, a part of the Jordan clan of whom her nephew Hal "Green Lantern", Jack and the other family members native to Earth-One. Apparently, when moving from Earth-Two, Larry sought out his new world's Jordans.
