Among the Controllers who left their native universe to attempt bringing order to parallel realities throughout the Multiverse, a few deviated from their self-proclaimed purpose. One example was the individual who became known as the Time Trapper. Yet despite his vast displays of power, he wasn't the first to go by that name, nor the last. That honor went to his master, the true Time Trapper.
After initial forays versus the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th century, and his initial battle in the 20th century versus Wonder Woman, this Controller version of the Time Trapper made one last bid for victory versus the Super Friends. Even with his own subservient Controller, who first unleashed a Sun-Eater weapon which Legionnaire Ferris Lad helped to extinguish at the cost of his life, this Trapper proved unsuccessful. After a confrontation with Darkseid which sapped this ersatz time lord of his powers, he was eventually eliminated by the original Time Trapper, who was now intent to finish what he initially started in conquest of the Earth-One universe.
In the Earth-Two realm of reality, two Controller developed the Miracle Machine, which quickly devastated their world. Ten centuries later an improved version of this Machine, which these two immortal Controllers dispatched to the Legion in order to defeat the Sun-Eater’s creator and their wayward brother.
One of these Controllers on Earth-Two’s Maltus (home of the Buddak) was the benevolent version of the fake Time Trapper, the other as well as stand-in for powerful ancient brings residing on the moons of Oa and Qward. Since there were three unique things only replicated in the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward from the original positive matter universe of Earth-One, the 1.) planet Oa (Qward), 2.) Oa’s moon, and 3.) the Monitor (and Anti-Monitor), it is evident who these ancient entities ended up being. Thus, the second Controller pictured in the alternate Earth-Two universe losing control of the Miracle Machine was his realities’ stand-in for the Monitor and Anti-Monitor.
