Tommy Doyle seemingly obtained similar equipment to that developed by Cassidy, and as the Printer's Devil embarked on a campaign of terror against the Daily Star, to dissuade a potential media conglomerate from purchasing the Star City newspaper which employed him. The Earth-One Green Arrow was able to unravel Tommy's scheme, although shortly thereafter an owner of an outdated printery stole Doyle's gear and adopted his evil alias.
Working alongside the owner of an arcade going by the masked identity of the Pinball Wizard, and a woman named Bad Penny, this new Printer's Devil led the trio against the World's Fair in Star City. They sought revenge as all three either lost their jobs or become unsuccessful in their businesses due to the Fair's technological advancements. Green Arrow was able to defeat all three.
Their counterparts were the acrobatic adversaries of first Batman and Robin, as well as Green Arrow and Speedy, as the Three Daredevils of Earth-Two. On Earth-Two, this trio continued to plague masked marauders of various cities using their skills they acquired in their firms circus careers. What drove them to crime in unknown.
The Three Devils first battled the Dynamic Duo in early 1941, then the Avenging Archers in 1942 with even more outlandish outfits. They returned years later when an adult Robin, then known as Owlman, aided Batman in capturing them again.
Were stuntman Daniel “Blue Devil” Cassidy and Doyle acquaintances? Were acrobat Quicksilver and the Three Devils colleagues? Given their modus operandi, this seems quite possible in both instances.
