In 1965, Hal Jordan in his Green Lantern alter ego adopted the means to transport himself from his native Earth-One into that of Earth-Two, using cyclical forces similar to those first discovered by his teammate Barry "Flash" Allen. Sometime in 1968, the elemental force from the planet Rann-One known as the Tornado Champion similarly utilized this technique to travel to Earth-Two. Merging its cyclical body with the android body of the Red Tornado, this combined being joined the Justice Society, the heir to the original Red Tornado aka Ma Hunkle.
Still later, he was used as a pawn by Creator2 to draw Earth-Two of his universe together with Earth-One... with the goal of destroying the merged planet which he intended to reshape into a new world. Although this failed, it became readily evident that these vibrational-shifts could do more than move an object or entity between universes... it could have potentially devastating consequences.Years later, when the criminal Iron Hand spawned his world-encircling hand construct composed of Nebuloid-energy, it was only thanks to the intervention of the Red Tornado with a Nebula Rod which destroyed this threat to Earth-Two. However, the Nebuloid energy seemed to counteract vibratory powers, as Red Tornado was now unable to return to his android body's home universe. Instead, he was now tied to his cyclical body's native universe of Earth-One, which he was thrown into following the Nebula Hand's destruction. Despite his desperate attempts to return to Earth-Two, until the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Red Tornado remained on Earth-One.
