Our example today is the supervillain named Sinestro and the superhero named Speedy. The former was initially unique to the Earth-One universe, the latter distinct to the Earth-Two universe. But that changed as a result of a cosmic exchange between the twin realities.
Sinestro of planet Korugar-One was the assigned protector of Sector 1417, until he became consumed with an insatiable thirst for power and forsook the tenants of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro began his criminal career as the arch-enemy of Earth-One's Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, empowered by a yellow power ring gifted to him by his cronies of the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward.
Roy Harper of planet Earth-Two was the orphaned son left stranded on Lost Mesa until discovered by Native American artifact collector Oliver Queen. The pair adopted the alter egos of Green Arrow and Speedy, both members of Law’s Legionnaires and the All-Star Squadron. One of their All-Star teammates, Jim “Guardian” Harper (no relation) and his brother Will traveled to Earth-One during the mid to late 1940s, with Will becoming father to a son he would name Roy. Rather than a blonde haired lad like the Roy of his home world, this Roy had red hair.
Some years later, Sinestro traveled to Earth-Two to create multiple clones* of himself, which he intended to become a Sinestro Corps unopposed by his former foes. Although he failed at this, the villain did spawn an exact duplicate of himself, who became his own counterpart! Interestingly, had transdimensional transportation not been developed between universes, Speedy-One and Sinestro-Two would never have existed!
* The remaining Sinestro clones on Earth-Two corresponded to Korugarians allied with his father on their world.
