Among the various dominating damsels in Gotham City, from the Catwomen to the Batwomen, from the Julie Madisons to the Vicky Vales, one set of counterparts was unique amidst these ladies of Earths One and Two. Introducing the lethal lasses Ruby Ryder of Earth-One, and Linda Lewis of Earth-Two.
Ruby was a wealthy businesswoman in Gotham who entered in an engagement with the mysterious Kyle Morgan, However, when Morgan spurned her and fled the city, Ryder manipulated the Batman into tracking him down in South America. Eventually, Batman discovered Kyle was in reality a disguise for Plastic Man. When she was finally reunited with "Kyle", she attempted to slay him with a gun, although Plastic Man's body was immune to bullets. After a brief stay in prison for attempted murder, she was released and soon after sought a prized African statue for her collection. However, in an elaborate ploy wherein Batman had Plastic Man impersonate his Bruce Wayne alter ego while also enlisting the aid in another shape-shifting superhero in Metamorpho, the terrific trio were able to thwart Ruby's scheme. She later attempted to usurp control over Wayne Foundation, but yet again Batman opposed her... this time with the aid of Green Arrow and the Metal Men.
Linda was a renowned nightclub singer whom Bruce Wayne briefly considered entering into a romance with until she was framed for murder. This was an ploy for some criminals to ascertain the location to a secluded cavern of gold, by framing Linda's father who had discovered its location. Batman successfully proved Linda's innocence while capturing the crooks.
While other women such as Linda Page and Kathy "Batwoman" Kane engaged the interest of the Waynes' Bruce and Batman aliases, and the twin Selina "Catwoman" Kyles ultimately won their hearts, Ryder and Lewis were but footnotes in the lives of the Batmen.
