Robotman was a metallic marvel who was given a second lease on life, when his brain was transplanted into an automaton. Having escaped death, with his physical body having expired, this metal man protected the innocent and fought for justice. Such was the twice-told-tale of Cliff Steele from Earth-One and Robert Crane from Earth-Two… the Robotmen!
However, there was two scientists who likewise had their brains on brainwaves kept alive after their bodies’ death. These malevolent masterminds would be second only to the Luthor of their respective Earth as the arch-foes of their universes’ Superman.
A scientist from planet Colu-One had his mind transmitted into the cybernetic body of Brainiac, and would go on to menace multiple worlds before encountering Earth-One’s Superman. These artificial automaton would be the home for Brainiac’s brain for years before he was transformed into a far different artificial entity.
Ultra-Humanire sought a body to transplant his brain into when his body died from a plague. However, before his henchmen could place it within one of his two robot sentries, they instead placed in within body of movie actress Dolores Winters. Those cybernetic guards succumbed soon after to Superman’s attack, though later Ultra nearly had his mind melded into the body of Crane’s Robotman. When that scheme failed, Ultra decided to find other human and later simian host bodies his brain could reside within.
