Metropolis Marvels Meet Mirthful Mammals

Superman traveled to several realities, from distant dimension to parallel planets to unique universes. Perhaps no plane of existence as was strange as one Earth-C, where animals were the intelligent life-form, not humans like on his adopted world of Earth-One. When a rift in space drew him to that world, he quickly encountered a new team of superheroes known as the Zoo Crew, led by Captain Carrot. This group formed when its members were mutated by meteors which pulled Kal-El to their universe. Interestingly, he wasn’t the first to discover this Earth, as his counterpart Kal-L visited it in the mid-1940s!

The circumstances that led to this cosmic crossover have never been explained.  What has been revealed was a routine meeting between Dunbar Dodo and Fennimore Frog. As was typical between the pair, Frog attempted conning the Dodo, taking advantage of the bird’s lack of intellect. On this occasion, the Frog bragged that he was the world’s champion jumper, and could jump farther than a kangaroo or even a jumping bean. Why he was motivated to do this is unknown, but this time Dodo had a come back for his rascally friend.

Dodo introduced Frog to his associate, who wished to conceal his identity, going by the alias of Mister Incognito. This robed individual was visiting Earth-C for “a rest”, according to the Dodo. However, his concealed colleague agreed to a competition between the two, with Frog beating the established world record of 11 feet 4 and 7/8th inches by 57 1/2 feet! When it was Mister Incognito’s turn, he’s jumped clear around the world!

Then the identity of Mr. Incognito was revealed… that being the Superman of Earth-Two! What drew him to this reality, and why did he wish to conceal his identity? While there is no answer as to the first question, apparently Superman is well known on Earth-C… probably as a comic book character. Following this competition, Kal-L ditched his robe and returned to Earth-Two.

Decades later, shortly after Kal-El visited Earth-C and inspired Captain Carrot to follow his heroic example as Superman, the Dodo and the Frog reappeared. Dunbar now had a job as a a cruise ship captain, with his vessel menaced by a mutated Fennimore in his form as Frogzilla. Thankfully, Captain Carrot and the Zoo Cree defeated Frogzilla, saved Dodo and his passengers, and reverted Frog back to normal.
