Absolute zero temperature at which a thermodynamic system has the lowest energy. It corresponds to −273.15 °C on the Celsius temperature scale and to −459.67 °F on the Fahrenheit temperature scale. In fact, absolute Zero, which is 0 degrees Kelvin, is the lowest possible fundamental temperature, causing all molecular motion to stop. Human beings cannot survive at such a temperature, but how about Kryptonians, with their superhuman physiques? It depends which Krypton they originate from, as it affects their minds in one universe and their bodies in another reality.
The Supermen of Earth-One had a well documented case where his exposure to absolute zero when confronting the villainess Killer Frost transformed him into a mindless slave. Obedient to her will, Superman had full range of motion but no cognitive ability, leading Killer Frost to sending him to attack her old foe Firestorm. The Superman of Earth-Two was exposed to absolute zero when he sought to locate his good friend Bruce “Batman” Wayne, who had been kidnapped by the Ultra-Humanite. Intent on transplant his mind from an actress’ body into Wayne’s, Ultra planned ahead for a conformation with his old foe by arming himself with a cold ray machine. This caused Superman to be held motionless in the freezing cold radius of the Humanite’s machine.
Firestorm was able to free his Superman from Killer Frost’s control by luring him to the center of the Earth to thaw out in its molten core. Lois Lane was able to free her husband Superman by overpowering Ultra and turning off the ice generating device. This proves a longheld hypothesis, that while the Earth-Two Superman has greater physical vulnerabilities than his counterpart, the Earth-One Superman has more psychological vulnerabilities than his doppelgänger. Thus, Kal-El is more susceptible to mind-control than was Kal-L
Both Ice Maidens were then captured by the Men of Steel, who with a little help from his friends found warmth in their courageous aid on their behalf.
