When first the Justice League met the Justice Society, after the Flash of each team had met three times (and on the third time rescued the Society from Vandal Savage), what drew the two teams together was six of their enemies joined together. Calling themselves the Crime Champions, three foes of the League and three foes of the Society banded together, each trio trading worlds with the other so they could pillage a new planet unprepared for their presence.
It began when the Fiddler along with his fellow allies of the Injustice Society pierced the barrier between their Earth-Two and that of Earth-One, where they encountered Felix Faust, Doctor Alchemy and Chronos of that world. Although initially successful in their schemes, these Champion were eventually defeated by the twin teams. Yet it was now evident that technology could bridge the gap between these parallel planes of existence.
Years later, physicist Joshua Champion succeeded in connecting with another universe, although that realm was ruled by the powerful Commander. Using Champion as his pawn, Commander attempted to launch an invasion of Joshua's Earth-One, although the doctor mentally moved the evil overlord's forces to Earth-Two where they battled the Justice Society. When his sister Meredith, son Ian and daughter Victoria used dimension spanning abilities they acquired from Joshua, the trio contacted the Justice League and brought them to Earth-Two to assist the Society in repelling the Commander's multiple invasions on that world.
After a quartet of League and Society members along with Victoria and Meredith entered the Commander's universe and retrieved Joshua from his grasp. they reunited with Ian and the rest of their teammates to have a final confrontation with the Commander himself. At this point, creating a new mechanized body, the Commander became an Earth-Two counterpart of Earth-One's robotic Brainiac spawned at about the same period of time, and like him attempted to create a "Panic in the Skies" over that Earth. Thanks to the timely intervention of the Monitor, Commander was distracted and destroyed when his body was racked with cosmic energy.
