Jock Kellogg was a bored English playboy, who learned when his uncle passed away that they were descendants of Merlin from legend. When he wore the cloak and cape of his ancestor, Jock gained a wide array of superhuman and reality altering abilities, which he used to fight crime and fascism in Europe during the early days of World War II.
Jack O’Lantern teamed up with Green Lantern Hal Jordan when alien scientist Grax threatened to destroy Earth-One. After a few solo adventures battling native threats of the Emerald Isle, Jack would team up with Superman and then join the Global Guardians when they were recruited by Doctor Mist to save his European nation and the entire world as the Global Guardians!
Jock "Merlin" Kellogg was never chronicled as having met Alan "Green Lantern" Scott, who lived and operated in the United States. However, Jock's ancestor Merlin under the mental control of a time traveling Vandal Savage (under the guise of King Arthur) pulled Scott and his pal Doiby Dickles to the age of Camelot. While attempting to use a pawn of Savage's in a Sinestro clone to steal Green Lantern's power ring, the villain ultimately failed while Alan and Doiby were reunited with his power battery from that era. With his power ring recharged, Green Lantern and Doiby returned to the 20th century, and perhaps this meeting between Green Lantern and Merlin was told down through the ages and passed along to Jock. And maybe Jock later joined the war-time superhero team known as the All-Star Squadron, where his teammate would have been Green Lantern himself!
