Adversaries of the Arrow Week: Sinister Stars Scheme

Today we consider two rogues who were one-hit wonders and shot trick arrows at their foes, the Green Arrows. These adversarial archers were the Crimson Archer of Earth-One and the Sagitarius of Earth-Two.

Herb Vraney was a racketeer who Green Arrow and Speedy captured, who obsessed with seeking revenge on the Battling Bowmen. After serving his prison sentence and once he was released, Vraney retrieved his hidden fortune. Undergoing plastic surgery to alter his facial features, Vraney assumed the identity of millionaire Hector Vance. Approaching Green Arrow with a proposition of Vance donating a million dollars to charity if he trained him in archery. Once he became proficent, Vraney/Vance adopted the alter ego of the Crimson Archer. Although he used some of Green Arrow's trick areas in an attempt to frame his foe, the hero outwitted Crimson Archer by identifyinf the arrows used in his crime spree by Vraney's fingerprints.

John Centaur was a superstitious crime lord who decided to adopt the identity of Sagittarius based on the constellation of stars perceived as a centaur with a bow. Using an arbalest while riding horseback, Centaur has a brief criminal career in his blue jumpsuit. However, Green Arrow and Speedy eventually brought him to justice.
