Sgt. Willie Walker was a paralyzed Vietnam War veteran who merged with an elemental force connected with the age-old conflict between New Genesis and Apokolips. When the inhabitants of these two extra-dimension worlds allowed their perpetual war to spill out on Earth-One, Walker was chosen to be the Black Racer, clad in specialized armor and celestial skies allowing him to travel at the speed of light through the air, as well as phasing abilities.
Max Crandall was a chemist and acrobat formerly associated with a circus, who chose a different career path. Max incorporated his superhuman speed into his circus performance. At a certain point in his costumed career, he decided to assume the alter ego of Quicksilver, and used his abilities as a superhero. His power coupled with his talent allowed him to seemingly defy gravity.
Under the round-the-clock care of his sister and brother-in-law Verna and Ray Johnson, Willie remained bedridden until hr received new missions to track down those facing impending death, when he would regain his mobile form as the Black Racer. This untimely led to confirmations with the New Gods of New Genesis such as Lightray, and later with the Secret Society of Super-Villains spawned by Apokolips’ dictator Darkseid.
After numerous adventures, Quicksilver was recruited by Uncle Sam and his Freedom Fighters of Earth-Two, as they migrated to Earth-X to protect that world that had no masked men nor costumed crusaders to protect it. Whatever happened to this agile adventurer after this is unknown.
