This is perhaps the most recurrent of tales we've ever considered. Up to a point, and even when it deviates it still shows remarkable parallels.
Slugsy Kyle was a two-time loser. This is because there was two of him, and each incarnation made the exact same mistakes. Although the one was more daring in his fashion sense then the other, deciding to later strap on some spandex for a return bout with his first foe.
Each Kyle faced his world's Batman during those heroes' first outing in costumed, and quickly knocked out the Caped Crusaders. For Earth-One's Slugsy, it was with a nice right cross, for Earth-Two's Slugsy it was with a hammer!
However, these were temporary victories, as both Bats tracked their prey down due to the criminals' carelessly fleeing on a newly tarred road below. Both Kyles were locked up, one never to be heard from again, as wearing a costume himself seemed to be out of the question. That wasn't the case for Earth-One's version.
Slugsy felt that, being locked up and doing time due to his enemy, he would be inspired by time which he had to spend plenty of behind bars. As the Clock, Kyle battled Batman and his new partner Robin, using time-piece themed schemes. The Clock was even leading them both into a trap. However, when the Dark Knight escaped the snare left by his old adversary, the Clock fled through a fair. Using the coils of a giant clock, Batman ensnared Kyle. He never returned from this devastating defeat.
However, on the parallel planet where his older counterpart gave up crime, another man known as the Clock had himself led his young enemy Robin into a similar trap.
