When the malevolent mastermind known as Iron Hand enslaved Earth-Two with a gigantic energized hand, itself a replica of a long vanquished alien entity known as Nebula Man, it then became necessary for the greatest heroes of two worlds to retrieve from the lost pages of time Seven Soldiers of Victory... who had themselves the key to destroy the nebula hand as they had man it was modeled from decades earlier.
And so, the Oracle sent members of the Justice Society and Justice League to seven historic eras to bring back to the 20th century the seven surviving members of the Law's Legionnaires. This tale in some way parallels a later team up of the League and Society in assisting the Legion of Super-Heroes versus their arch-enemy and Oracle's Earth-One doppleganger, Mordru. (1)
Similarly, when Doctor Fate along with the shrinking Atom and the elastic Elongated Man of Earth-One first battled a nebula empowered Crimson Avenger. Driven mad by the nebula-stone radiation he had been exposed to, the Avenger became a tyrant to the ancient Mayan inhabitants of the Yucutan, and nearly defeated the trio of heroes before they overpowered him. A similiar scenario played out in modern day shrunken city of Kandor, when the dynamic duo of Flamebird and Nightwing battled the evil crime lord Jur-L of Earth-Three's universe, who had himself been empowered by the Sunstone. This father of Ultraman was defeated by the duo. (2)
When Superman along with Sandman and Metamorpho rescued a mind manipulated Shining Knight while fighting Genghis Khan, this paralleled a time when Superboy met a young Khan and helped the lad in a time period slightly earlier to become prominent among his peers. While the Genghis Khan of Earth-One who met the Boy of Steel was his own man, the Earth-Two Khan was the latest identity assumed by Vandal Savage, who would centuries later battle the Knight again and again. (3)
Then there was the occasion in mideaval England when Doctor Mid-Nite, Wonder Woman and Hawkman located a time-displaced Green Arrow of Earth-Two, while the Green Arrow of Earth-One along with his world's Batman went to the same era to face the evil winged Gargoyle during his twisted scheme. (4)
The Outsiders' Batman, Geo-Force, Katana and Black Lightning journeyed to ancient Egypt of Earth-One, as had that same Batman along with Starman and Hourman who ventured to the Earth-Two ancient Egypt... each team rescuing Metamopho and Stripesy, respectively. It was during this same time period where Metamorpho's original identity of Rex Mason had a doppleganger in Prince Khufu, the ancestor to Earth-Two's Hawkman! (5)
An evil Lord of Time sent Justice Leaguers Flash, Green Lantern, Zatanna and Elongated Man to the old west of America, while Oracle did the same for Green Arrow, Black Canary, Johnny Thunder and his Thunderbolt, but for very different reasons. While the Leaguers met famous legends such as Jonah Hex, Scalphunter, Batlash and red-haired Cinnamon, the Arrow and his allies encountered native American's when saving Vigilante. However, the Earth-Two versions of some of these gunfighters would meet modern day heroes during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, including Texas Ranger and Strong Bow when they met red-haired Firebrand. (6)
Kid Flash and Mal Duncan had been sent to prehistoric times by a device created by their mentor Mister Jupiter, wherein they encountered a behemoth brute later known as Gnaark whom Mal fought. Something similar happened with the Gnaark of Earth-Two who faced Wildcat along with his allies Aquaman and Green Lantern... as they were locating Star-Spangled Kid. While that Gnaark was left in his native time period, the Earth-One Gnaark upon returning with the teens to the 20th century became a member of the Teen Titans, while having a brief romance with member Lilith Clay. Sadly, the transition to a new era coupled with his intelligence being augumented led to Gnaark perishing soon after. (7)
Finally, the Earth-One Circe had transformed an archer named Biron into the flying horse known as Comet... while the Earth-Two Circe had done something similar with the time lost Speedy the archer... although Speedy couldn't fly like his teammate Shining Knight's flying steed, Winged Victory. While Comet the Super-Horse’s counterpart Serge the Sky-Steed wasn’t born as yet, Winged Victory filled in for him during the multiple centuries from Circe's time until that of Speedy and Serge's in the 20th century. These examples illustrate how these twin worlds mirror one another throughout their histories, even those these event diverge into their own unique paths. More examples can be found in the list of Twice-Told-Tales on this site.
