Prior to the infant Kal-El's adoption into the Kent family, Jonathan and Martha Kent had adopted another boy, Cory Renwald. Although a troubled youth, Cory eventually turned his life around thanks to his foster parents' positive example and tutelage. Joining the federal government as a secret agent, Renwald was secretly aided by his foster brother Clark in that lad's Superboy alter ego. Years later, Cory would finally meet Clark who was now an adult and reporter for the Daily Planet, also assisting Superman on a couple of occasions. This occurred on Earth-One.
Decades prior to this, there was government agent Steve Carson, who was given the moniker Federal Man, had many chronicle adventures contemporaneous with the career of his world's Superman. Both Steve and Kal-L has similar "parents" in the creative team of Siegel and Schuster, as well as both Carson and Superman being connected to a Jor-L and to the 30th century. Whether this pair ever met is unknown, although they each protected the innocent of Earth-Two.
