While Superboy was a regular member of the 30th century Legion of Super-Heroes, by his adulthood Superman became more preoccupied with his new teammates in the Justice League. However, he had occasion to encounter the Legion, both the younger version and the Adult Legion members such as Lightning Man, Cosmic Man, Element Man... among others. Throughout the years, they worked well with the Science Police of Earth-One.
On one such occasion, the older Super-Heroes faced their arch-rivals in the Legion of Super-Villains, and were aided by the heroic descendants of Lex Luthor and Mister Mxyzptlk, who following this case were themselves inducted into the good Legion. Although this was but one possible future for the Legionnaires.
On Earth-Two, the 30th century was filled with a heroic group known as the Space Legion, who were allied with the Super Police in protecting their world and their solar system from various threats... both native and alien. Among those members of these illustrious organizations were heroes such as Rex Cosmos, Rock Braddon and Blaze Barton. While their adult adventures with their various sub-groups were chronicled, we also have records of their tales as Junior Federal Men... in both their era and in the 20th century!
The first tale of these Junior Federal Men in the far future was of when they battled Zator Rog, the evil descendant of Superman's arch-enemy Alexei Luthor. After outsmarting the crooks and aiding the super police in the Space Legion, they decided to further educate themselves on the exploits of the original team of teens who inspired them from a thousand years in their past.
In order to due this, these future lads boarded a vessel known as a time bus, invented in their time period. This temporal transporter was mainly used to bring tourists of their century into past eras, in order to witness and experience historical events first hand.
On one such occasion, a benevolent 30th century benefactor ventured to the early 1950's in order to recruit the Justice Society to help the Space Legion fight off invading Chameleon armies infiltrating Earth-Two. Following the Society's victory versus the amorphous aliens, the heroes returned to their native time, although many residents of the 30th century gained renewed appreciation for the heroes from this bygone era... such as these boys.
These future lads decided to join the team founded by their 20th century inspirations, and as such participated in many of the cases they had read about of those ancient courageous children!
One of the more famous tales involved their meeting the original Federal Man, Steve Carson, and soon after bringing to justice a murderous driver. In so doing, they contacted the local specialty police unit known as Radio Squad, which included Sandy Keane and Larry Trent. Although this meeting was in passing, it solidified their existence in Earth-Two's reality and history, for Trent was a former boxer whom the golden age Superman aided... and who helped to inspire towards a career in law enforcement years later.
And so, the Junior Federal Men of the 30th century built up a steady career as 20th century adventurers alongside other youths born over a thousand years before their birth. Some 30 such adventures were known of these teenagers before they resumed their lives from whence they came in the 30th century.
And as adults, Rex Cosmos of the Super Police, Rock Braddon of the Space Legion, and Blaze Barton would chart their own course in fighting injustice throughout the cosmos. While they did not possess superhuman powers like Lightning Lad, Cosmic Kid, and Sun Boy... they like their counterparts lived up to the heroism of the caped crusaders who first ushered in the age of the superhero. Although these grown uniformed guardians initially clashed with the then-visiting Justice Society, such as when Rex, Rock and Blaze encountered Wonder Woman and the Flash, the Space Police eventually realized that these time-displaced heroes were on their side fighting against their mutual shape-shifting foes.
