Inspector William "Bill" Henderson was a renowned office in the Metropolis Police Force. On both Earths One and Two. Although you may hardly know it. How is this possible, given that the local law enforcement of these twin cities worked closely throughout the years with their premier protectors, the Supermen? Well, the Men of Steel also known as Kal-El and Kal-L met several policemen and women during their various adventures, and each city were large metropolitan areas with a variety of police districts within them.
The Inspector Henderson of Earth-Two originally interacted with his Superman during a period when the World's Finest hero was battling a former German soldier Heinrich Melch, also known as the Atoman. During these tales, Henderson also interacted with not only Superman but all three of the "World's Finest heroes", including Gotham City's Batman and Robin throughout the decade of the 1940's
The Inspector Henderson of Earth-One first appeared a few years into his Superman's career, A recurring ally of his, and later of another hero of Metropolis named Black Lightning, Henderson continually fought against the various criminal that plagued his city. While automatically accepting Superman, who had already established himself years earlier as Superboy, Henderson was initially suspicious of Lightning and until that hero helped him defeat the 100 Gang once and for all.
But these two were not alone in interacting with the costumed crusaders defending their burgs. Another pair, initially beat cops that eventually became detectives themselves after proving themselves, were Corrigan and Casey.
Jim Corrigan… no relation to the detective that operated first in Cliffland, then in Gateway City and even later in Gotham City… first met Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen as well as journalists. Casey, his first name unknown, began his career as a sargeant where he formed a begrudging respect for Daily Star reporters Lois Lane and Clark Kent. However, just as William Henderson of Earth-One initially pursued Black Lightning, whom he thought was a criminal vigilante... so too did Casey pursue the Earth-Two Superman for the same reason. Yet he too would come to trust his one time adversary. As for Jim, he was a steady presence for all he met, be they reporters or superheroes.
