Nosey Nuisance Newswomen: Vera Sweet & Nedra Borrower

When thinking of prominent newswomen, one normally thinks of Lois Lane, then of Lana Lang. On parallel planets, each Lois and Lana made a name for herself  as crusading journalists. But there was a third women, a blonde who like the brunette Lois and redhead Lana was a trailblazer in the anals of reporting.

Vera Sweet was a weather girl and aspiring journalist for WHAM-TV in the Gotham Citu of Earth-One. Nedra Borrower was an investigative reporter working for GBS-TV in the Gotham City of Earth-Two.

Both women were embittered by perceived slights, compounded by their obsession to discredit the city's resident superheroes, Creeper and the Huntress. Vera .tried to curry favor of management and established staff like reporter Jack Ryder, whom she had some attraction with that was tempered by their combustible personalities. She would encounter Jack’s alter ego the Creeper on more than on occasion. Nedra tried to focus negative publicity on the Huntress, whom she grew jealous of for the heroine's success. Forming an unethical relationshp with a local corrupt politician, this led to her being fired. What became of these driven women after their repeated failures to humiliate their competitors is unknown.
