The original Shaggy Men was initially an experiment by Professor Andrew Zagarian, using his plastalloy prototype in ape-form to attempt to achieve tissue regeneration. What he inadvertently spawned was a super strong, invulnerable creature with a raging temperament. When the Justice League failed to subdue this beast as well as a monster originating from an asteroid threatening Earth-One, the League had Zagarian replicate the Shaggy Man, encasing both Shaggy Men and the asteroid antagonist in a deep bit locked in eternal battle with one another.
The Sky-Kangas were genetically engineered creatures which the extraterrestrial Sky Riders of planet Nebulosa bred to possess super strength with gravity-defying leaping abilities within their colossal bodies. While there were normal-sized Kangas of both Earths One and Two (including the Wonder Women’s cosmic twin pets named Jumpa), only Earth-Two had these mutant variants known as Macropidea Gigantis*. After their mistresses attempted and failed to conquer Paradise Island, both the Kangas and their Riders were accepted into Amazonian society.
Eventually, one Shaggy Men was sent by mental mastermind Hector Hammond as a pawn against the Justice League aboard their satellite headquarters, while the other wreaked havoc in the Soviet Union. Green Lantern shrank the first while Batman tricked the second to board a rocket-ship sent to space.
As for the Sky Kangas, one of their number ended up consumed with anger and left Paradise Island, turning up in Australia. There, the Justice Society members Green Lantern and Doctor Mid-Nite were able to subdue the creature, presumably returning it to Paradise Island once more.
