Problematic politicians with a propensity for power-plays plagued protectors of the people. Among these were Congressman Bloch who tormented the Green Lantern of Earth-One and his girlfriend Carol Ferris, and Congressman Hopkins of Earth-Two who sought to convict the Justice Society of Earth-Two of which Green Lantern was a member. Similarly, there was Senator Creed of Earth-One and Senator O'Fallon of Earth-Two who had more lasting effects.
Creed was given the ability to dissolve matter with a touch due to exposure to radiation during an attempted kidnapping attempt which his captors botched. As the Eradicator, he struck out to seek justice in Central City although this was fueled by a split personality that resulted from his irradiation. After confronting the Flash more than once, Creed learned what he had done in eliminating several criminals through immoral means, and used his power on himself.
As to O'Fallon, while not possessing superhuman abilities, he had the innate skill to turn public opinion in his favor as he held the Justice Society in contempt during a Senate hearing where the team defended its record. This led to the retirement for several years of its members, including the Flash of O'Fallon's world. He ended up perishing in an automobile accident, although his son would carry on his crusade against costumed crime fighters in his steed.
