During the 58th century, the Solar Council found itself confronted with several threats needing to be addressed by an ancient ally of Earth-One. And so, Chairman Dasor chose the 20th century Green Lantern... Hal Jordan... as the champion they needed during their hour of need. However, the transition from his native time period to this future era caused Hal to lose his mind. And so, Dasor's assistant Iona Vane was assigned to assist Jordan in assuming a false identity as Pol Manning. And so, Jordan would become Manning on four occasions, with the fifth resulting in the creation of a Pol Manning clone that was evil. As "Doctor Strangehate", this Manning would ultimately be reprogrammed into becoming a space explorer until another would ultimately assume his identity.
On Earth-Two. Pol's counterpart wasn't that world's Green Lantern... Alan Scott... but rather Prince Peril from planet Myrg. Peril was consumed with the desire to marry Princess Ramia and become the sovereign of his home world. This brought him into conflict with both Alan and, during a cross-dimensional excursion, Hal wherein he defeated both. Armed with the Q-Energy native to his universe, which he obtained through unknown means, Peril seemed nearly invincible. However, the pair would ultimately vanquish Peril and his haughty hopes.
As for the Manning clone, he would eventually have to be merged with another 20th century Green Lantern in the Green Lantern of Sector 1418, Salaak. As the new Pol Manning, he would be the object of Iona's affection when her mind was altered, which he would abide by.
Prince Peril, meanwhile, would become a champion baseball player on Myrg-Two under the tutelage of his former foe, Doiby Dickles, who we Ramia in a future timeline. He wouldn't be heard from again unlike Salaak who remained a hero in every hero he lived in.
