Crisis Defined the Maidens of Might

The Crisis on Infinite Earths defined many characters. Its most famous death was the Flash, who saved his and other universes from destruction at the cost of his very life. Many other famous, infamous, and non-famous individuals also met their ends during this cosmic conflict.

Remarkably, one set of counterparts found what the other was meant to find. Supergirl was to have been the new composite Earths' Kara, cousin of Superman while her counterpart Power Girl was to have ceased to exist. Instead, Supergirl gave her life fighting the Anti-Monitor in the Anti-Matter Universe, while her cosmic twin remained behind as a precautionary measure with a second wave of heroes in their native dimensions, Although in one variation of history, it was her cousin instead of she herself who perished, presumably leading to a different outcome for another P.G.

As a result of the core universe's Girl of Steel perishing, Power Girl assumed her doppleganger's position as the Kara of Krypton, although her memories were tied in to the realm of her birth. When the Psycho Pirate attempted to access her memories to unleash their former native Earth-Two, she discovered how essential she was towards the restoration of her reality, Once this was achieved, a temporal twin was created on the new Earth-Two, while the revitalized Earth-One debuted its own Supergirl! Leaving Power Girl as an anomaly of the Multiverse.

This is another line of evidence that the Multiverse Exists even after Crisis attempted to extinguish it, be it in "Hypertime" or the "New 52" or "Flashpoint"... or whatever new take was spawned from the original concept. And the Maiden of Might was at the center, showing how important she... like her cousin Superman... is!
